Well I'm out of extended warranty in June so I'm going for the Chip. I've had many cars chipped before and not run into trouble. My dealer has never asked on my AUDI, as I matter of fact I told them, they don't see it as an issue, warranty is money for dealers so why should they not want warranty work.

I got the DPCHIP done in my MY08 V6TDI. Specifically done for extra performance and for towing my 2000kg van. It is awesome, with peak torque now 620NM @ about 1700revs. So far so good, no problems, and having great fun.

Peter from SuperChips said if we have 4 vehicles he'd do a 10% off deal. If you go to the MyTreg Board in Britain you'll note that SuperChips is the preferred Map. I'm doing mine no matter what so this will make one. any V6 of 5 Tdi's what more power and economy? if so here is your chance to do with a discount.

Sorry to bring this back from the dead, but has anyone hear ever mentioned that there is a R50 performance upgrade from MTM? Some talk or even recommend to not bother to chipping the V10 TDI and just upgrade to the R50. Well here it is, a "chipped" R50. All 380hp and 920Nm of it. VW Touareg (5,0 TDI 258 kW (350 hp) R50) Tuning - MTM Product overview

I think all chip makers produce an R50 upgrade, that is what I found when searching for my V10.

The best Vehicles to Chip or should I say re programe are turbo vehicles, that is for HP and Torque gains.

Interesting fact I didn't know. They certainly don't openly advertise it that is for sure.

Anyways, thought I'd mention it only because no one mentioned this anywhere for starters, even under an intensive forum search. In a couple of areas in this thread and a couple of others too , people say don't bother to chip the V10, too risky, just get the R50 instead, so that may give off a certain impression to someone who seeks, that the R50 is some sort of dead end mod. I just wanted people who search to be aware that the R50 isn't a dead end, just like Alpina to BMW is not a dead end, AMG to Mercedes, and RUF to Porsche. They are still "factory" cars at the end of the day. Perhaps most already knew this, but it certainly hasn't been brought up.

The increase on my '06 V8 (and the same for all T1 V8s) with GIAC software is about 8-10HP and ~20-25lb/ft of torque... The biggest gain is the throttle response and part throttle passing/acceleration :joy:
+1 on the throttle response on this Audi engine.

There's a couple of other tunes out there that provide a few more ponies for the non-fsi V8 than what GIAC advertises, at least when comparing brochure to brochure. Upsolute for one claims 20 hp and 25 ft-lbs of torque for the early V8's. Not ground breaking, especially for a 5500 pound piece of metal and plastic. I was about to have mine flashed a couple of weeks ago, in fact the Upsolute guy was in my driveway, but ran into some technicalities with his software, and then hardware failure. Hopefully it will all be sorted out and we can meet again.

I know this is a very OLD post, but I thought I might rekindle the conversation. I have just sent the Treg in to be remapped using an Oettinger Tune, from Harding Performance in Brisbane. A case of the well travelled ECU!

I will be picking it up on Saturday morning, in two days, and it will be interesting to see/feel the difference.

Stuart..

We I picked the Treg up this afternoon, with its new engine mapping, and my credit card on life support! Sadly it was raining and windy here in Melbourne this afternoon, so no real opportunity to get a feel for any change in driving. So the real road test is yet to come..

One thing I have noticed is that the rather large flat spot just off idle appears to be a thing of the past. Also the engine has a very different sound at idle, which seems to indicate quite an increase in timing advance at closed throttle.

Oettinger are claiming 201 kW with 590 NM torque..from 175 / 510.
Hopefully, if the next few days are dry, I will get a chance to do some serious road testing.

Stuart...

You planning to put it on the Dyno Stuart?

What can I say? ....... Cool night, good traction uphill curve on-ramp to a freeway, with the trans in Tiptronic and hands on the paddles with the right foot planted!!! Surfing on a bloody big Torque Curve.

This is so nice, it's evil!

If you own a 3.0 TDI and can part with the $$, you will struggle to keep an evil smile off your face...Oettinger know what they are doing, this is now silky smooth and rather frightening quick!!!! WoooHooooo

My only disappointment is that I waited till now to get it. My previous car was an LS1 Chev powered Holden SS which in stock form was putting out the same HP as the TDI now has, but with the torque the diesel would eat it for lunch!

Stuart.....

Nice =) I will be chipping the Treg but its only 4 mths old. My previous 3 cars have all been chipped and I can relate to the enjoyment.

Hmm... actually.. I ought to be chipping my Golf now.. since its already out of warranty.

Glad you're enjoying your car more than ever.

Those are nice figures and seem to tally with the MY 2015 V6 so the engine is good for it .

This tune is apparently rather "conservative" and some can deliver even higher HP/Torque. My interest is drivability balanced with engine life. Based on these figures, Bails, I think the engine life won't be an issue.

Looks like a nice result from the Oettinger remap.

After 370 km the distance to empty is showing 760 km.

Impressive, and very very tempting. Will wait till you post a fill to fill figure (I dont completely trust those computers)
Now this means more $ to spend, how will I get around SWMBO!!!

Stu,

Your figures seem to go in opposite direction to mine, took my Steinbaurer chipped treg over dyno last week and this is what resulted, note these numbers are what's being generated at the wheels.
Totally different to what Oettinger are saying according to your post.
