My 2006 V6 'Reg has 242,000 miles on it. Just put a new set of Goodyear Assurance triple treads on it last week. New brakes all around go on next week. Bought it as a dealer demo with 9k on it after ditching the 2004 first model year lemon. Mechanically very sound and the paint and interior have held up well. Biggest pains were the back window hatch/defrost not working followed by the hydraulic back hatch failure--which injured our black lab when the hatch decided to fail and crash down on her (she survived).

Going for 300k...we'll see how it goes.

It doesn't look like I will be winning any awards, but my Egg just rolled over to 218,000 miles. 2004, V8, with air suspension.

Never had any air suspension problems! *knock on woodgrain*

She needs catalytic converters and O2 sensors (feeling way down on power) ... and it's second timing belt service is due.

We bought it in 2013 with 72k miles, that works out at 31,500 miles per year. An estimated total of $27,720 in JUST PETROL during our ownership (calculated at an average of 15MPG, and average fuel price of $3.30 per gallon).

Mine just rolled 200k miles! 2005 V8 Air Susp. Only problems I’ve had are with the trans mainly. And had to get the alternator rebuilt once. Also the oem headlights suck and had to get rebuilt. I’ve owned this for quite a while and I’m going to start looking for another Touareg.

Approaching 180,000 miles here. Mine needs lots of work down the road, but I switched mechanic shops recently so hopefully this shop will treat the reg more carefully like their own car which is more than i can say foe the POS robber-baron indie shop I just stopped going to. Should be interesting. Cheers!

Impossible you cannot do that in a V10 they are so unreliable !! lol

regards
Drag

Unreliable!!!....of course they are not unreliable......I can rely on something needing replaced every month with absolute certainty , it’s never let me down yet

Ok ok......... I’ve replaced the engine, transfer box, starter, generator, at least 150 batteries!!, wiper motor, air suspension pump, rear tailgate shocks x4, bonnet shocks x2, heater blower fan, both headlights, tandem pumps x 3, Centre bearing x3, front diff bearings, window winder cables x 3, electric mirror switch x2, crank position sensor, oil temp sensor......apart from that it’s been completely fine, no issues at all

To be fair I’m running it in pretty severe conditions in Eastern Europe, -25c to +45c often at the motorway speed limit 140kmh, off road use too....labour prices are dirt cheap here, mechanics will tackle anything nothing fazes them they have absolutely no fear, and loads of second hand parts available so running costs are pretty cheap... it’s still an awesome car, still looks great and built like a tank, so gonna keep it going as long as possible!

Sounds like my yard broom that's 50 years old and still going strong after 5 new handles and 10 new heads!

Are you sure it is a Touareg you are referring to and not an aeroplane?

Just turned over 434000 Kms on my 2004 V10. I got it with 217000 kms about 6 years ago. Since then I've replaced 1 set of front rotors and 2 sets of pads, tandem pump, alternator, thermostat, rebuilt the air compressor, replaced various door sensors, front driver seat, 3 batteries, both head lights and their mounts, a couple parking sensors, cd changer, "Jimi fixed" the hanger bearing on the rear driveshaft (it's lasted 4 years, over 100000 kms) and numerous other fixes.
It has just developed the 108 kph shudder under acceleration and I am 99% sure its camshaft time!

Well at least you've confirmed the Jimi fix is good for 6 figure kms!

Well I just hit the 240,000 mile mark last night on my 2006 V10.

Just did an oil change over the Christmas break.
I bought it with 121,000 miles on it 4 years ago. In that time I have done regular oil changes, replaced the thermostat, front passenger side wheel bearing, rear passenger sway bar link (I do have the link for the drivers side, I just have not installed it yet).
Next up is replacing the front suspension (upper/lower control arms, tie rod ends, etc) as the bushings are shot. I just order 2 new MAF sensors. After that I will probably look to replace the rear suspension components.

She is still running strong! Here's to another 240,000 miles!

Nice!
Good proactive maintenance there! I have 200000kms on the v10 at the moment and would follow suit in time.
Love the v10, nothing like it
