Hey Bails, it sure is indeed, not sure where that brochure is from but this is current on vw website and it states it as 300mm, which in reality it is.
Weird though.

Got the VIN today of my new car, built in November complied Feb 2016. Of interest is the insurance cost was $18.00 p.a. more than the R50 , this I find really surprising . With a bit of luck I'll be off the bike by the weekend.

Awesome, look ahead to more pics and review Bails!

They will come !

I am still studying the specs, just researched brakes and found that the RRS has bigger front and rear discs than the R50 , 380 front and 360 rear.
I really like the research part of ownership , my biggest hope of course is for the reality to match. Pretty much like starting over with club touareg again , finding out the resources and links . Just joined TopIx , and was able to put my VIN in and it is now linked to me and I will be notified of any new issues , neat I think. Also according to TopIx the car was manufactured 22/12/2015 which is later than the dealer supplied info , so will be interesting to discover who provides the best source of info.

At the moment I am the only person on the RR board with an R50 as an avitar !

Well had my first half day with my new RRS. Firstly let me say this is a very different vehicle to the Treg , and I am only giving some details for interest purposes.

So for my initial drive from dealer in Narellan to W'gong and then from W'gong to Sydney and back for dinner I found the following:-

1) Sat Nav slow to type in addresses , but the functionality and directions better than my Treg and Wife's SQ5.
2) Car seemed wide and I kept driving over he inside white line and had the steering wheel shaker reminding me I was off line, cured over the drive and wheel shaker turned off.
3) The drive by wire throttle seemed a little disconnected.
4) 8 Speed box is great , but is also great on he SQ5 and new Tregs.
5) Performance seemed very similar , and the facts seem to back this up, fuel economy was much better.
6) Auto high beam, what a great invention.
7) Comfort , very good for me. Driving position was also very nice.
8) On road handling , IMO is better , ride is also more compliant even in Dynamic mode .
9) Had 4 on board and all agreed more internal space than the Treg.
10) Meridian Sound , very good and very loud if required , only let down by slow loading of CD's to HHD and a limit of 10 CD's. Need to get an iPOD for on board playlists if I want music quality to match the sound system potential.

Things I'd like but couldn't afford, TPMS , and adaptive cruise .

Do have a real spare now .

Interesting ref the TPMS - all cars in Europe have had to have it since 2014 and if you have a set of winters or off-road wheels, those have to have TPMS as well.

Seems hardly worth the bother to remove the system given what I suspect are fairly small numbers coming to Oz. I wonder if there's an easy after-market upgrade using the RR equivalent of VCDS and a set of sensors . . .

Thanks for the feedback Bails. The SatNav comments surprise me (good to hear though), particularly comparing to the SQ5 as well (my previous was a Q5 3.0 and loved the satnav, although not unhappy with the Treg). Your comments on the comfort and handling were expected... the 2 hour test drive proved that for me too. And I have driven a few cars that have one or more great new features like adaptive cruise control and auto headlight dimming. My next will have both - such great features, but likely will be standard by that time :). I have the std Treg sound system, my Q5 had the Bang & Olufsen.... superb and I miss it! Cheers Paul.

Our SQ5 has the Bang & Olufsen and it is great but the RR system is better, and this is really saying something. I have now hooked an iPAd mini up to the car and this works a treat, playlists and all, very seem less and I can put high quality apple loss less recordings on if I so desire. I am slowly getting used to the car, two days, really like to drive it , actually looking for excuses to drive, was the same when I had the R50. The HUD display is neat but I find it a little off putting at night , so I turn it off . The approaching vehicle stuff is good especially when you are reversing out of a drive. The thing that made me want the car though was the drive , and so far I am not disappointed in the way the car drives.
Service intervals are 26,000 k's and service pricing is about the same as a Treg , I will most likely do an oil change in around 10,000 just to get rid of the run in muck.

The Tregs are fantastic vehicles , the RR is just different and I like to have different experiences so fingers crossed I will get to enjoy the RRS as much as 10 plus years of V10 Tregs.

DONT .... turn the HUD off otherwise you will be here again saying you hit another Roo or worse a Bambi .... with no remorse !

You live in a "general area" where they could be more prevalent than say Sydney !!

Well I have now had a bit more time behind the wheel of the RRS. Big thing for me was learning about the size , the car is wider and longer than the TREG. I think I have already mentioned most of my first impressions , the biggest being just how well this car handles , how Land Rover can make a 4WD handle like a sports car I do not know.

Sound system is the best I have ever had, listening to surround sound music is fantastic. Car is super quite inside , and the controls are simple and easy to use and understand, not like the SQ5 which requires taking your eyes off the road to just adjust air con fan speed.

This is just my info stuff and am happy to convey the good and the bad if anyone is interested. So far not enough ownership miles to really add more detail.

Hope you have many happy miles ahead.

Thanks for the update Bails. You'll have to bring the RRS along to a East Coast GTG. I'd love to check it out and I'm sure the others will still talk to you. ;-)
Yes interesting active group here. The RR board spends most of the time discussing colour schemes and leather seat conditions?
I have had some time this weekend to go over the car a bit more , and one thing I do notice is that the Germans are far more tidy in their build than the Poms. Some things look like a ,we forgot and how do we add on now? Finding useful space to store tools and recovery gear is an issue, will get sorted but this problem is because I have a real spare.
Funny asking the other board for advice on gear and maintenance , seems very few have any intention of letting anything happen outside a dealer.

Hey Bails, congrats with RR and hope it serves you well! We were in your part of the woods couple of weeks ago, helping kids settle into new property, so could not catch up. Cheers, Werner

Thanks for the updates Bails. we only get the V6 diesel over here. I havent had the opportunity for an extended test drive yet but your feedback certainly helps my future decision.

I find it interesting that low range is a $1600 option over here...inexpensive compared to the vehicle itself but makes me think of the number of Treg owners who would love a 4Xmotion option at that price.

Pricing may be a little more realistic in your part of the world. We have a nice little tax called Luxury Tax on cars over a certain price?? The tax has nothing to do with Luxury and is all about price , so is applied based on the sale price of the vehicle. Feature wise the RR would have less standard features than base model Treg , but as I purchased for the drive this feature was nearly worth the entry price. I think the only way to get some value proposition on the RR is a good long drive, and even after this for many the value will not be there.

Would have been nice to put a face to a handle.
Was some time back I did a drive to Port Headland to catch up with one of my daughters working for BHP, seems I've trained my Kids to move away from us quite well, must be all the travels in 4WD's as they were growing up.
