As of late, my heater is not working at all. Somehow the valve is not opening to allow the heater to heat the coolant. The heater turns on and runs, the blower is on and blowing air into the cabin but no hot air just cool air.

After going without my AUX heater all last winter I did a couple of things this Summer to try and get it going. My circulation pump was not turning on so I assumed it had failed and got a used replacement and installed it. I tested the original one I took out and it works just fine

Still no AUX heat.
Then I got looking at the wiring diagram (you need a PhD to read one) and figured out that fuse #4 (5 AMP) controls the pump. Sure enough it was blown. As soon as I replaced it I had a working pump!
Manually turning on the Aux heater worked just fine but the timer didn't

I checked and rechecked all the timer settings, date, time, heat/cool selection and it was all correct. Frustrated again!
The following week my thermostat failed so I replaced that last Thursday by following the DIY
http://www.clubtouareg.com/forums/f43/v10-thermostat-replacement-diy-120345.html. If you own a 2004 beware of the steel coolant line that runs down the center of the thermostat housing. It added 5 hours to my repair time. 2006 got a rubber line there and you can change it in 2 hours.
Today (Tuesday 8AM or so) at a long stop light I looked up and noticed the DAY said Wednesday. When I got to a parking spot I rechecked the date set in the timer and it was set correctly as November 18, 2014! My car thinks 11/18/2014 is a Wednesday. Well, OK, then. I changed the date to 11/17/2014 and now it thinks it is Tuesday.
I set the timer to go off Tuesday at 4:45PM for 40 minutes. I get out to my car tonight and it is purring away and toasty warm inside! Yay, problem solved.
I'm curious if anyone else has a timer that is off on the calendar? Leap Year or what. Any ideas?
