I put my new lift kit to the test yesterday and it did not disappoint. The Touareg and Alex Gee's Lift performed flawlessly. We had a ton of fun on wooded trails and some rocky trails and I even managed to get a little hug up in some mud! All in all the day went great, we met up with some friends in a Jeep Wrangler and had a good time. I wanted to share some pictures and a video clips from the trip and show off Alex's Lift kit a little.

(Should have more video coming soon)

And the Pictures...

And here is the little hang up in the mud...

It took all three of these jeeps to get me out. The big wrangler used its winch and the other two held it from just sliding towards me!

That Sir is a fine looking rig! Mud always makes it look better!

So, did the Jeep go thru the same mud as you? What do you think caused you to get stuck?

VERY nice.

Thanks Alex!
Yep you are right, I probably would have had more traction if I had run a lower pressure.

I was wondering, have you ever noticed a water sloshing noise after one of your offroad ventures? Im not sure if I am just hearing the fuel in the tank or if I got some water trapped somewhere.

Looks like you had a lot of fun! Two questions about your car:

1. How do you like your light bar? Does it reflect off of your hood?
2. Why do a few of you have flags on your cars? I imagine it just helps increase your visibility, but is there any other reason?
1. I love the light bar it lights up everything! It seems to light up the hood but I don't get any annoying or distracting reflection.

flags are usually for use as a visibility aid when cresting hills or sand dunes so you dont have accidents ... ie head on collisions with cars you cant yet see coming up the other side
2. Yep, and at this park they are required!

Good stuff, great to see the action!
How much is the clearance with the lift, over 300mm??
I will have to measure and get back with ya!

How much of a lift did you get/what size spacer? What are your tire specs?
I believe they are 2" Spacers, my tires are 265/70/17

Very nice!!
So you are now sitting +2inches from the lift kit and +1,5inches from the tires, right?
Looking forward to see more videos in action
Sounds about right Im going to measure my ground clearance today and see where Im at.

Thanks guys!

I got 330mm with my spacers.

Hi Dillon, nice work. I have to agree with Alex, for what you were doing, you would have had much more traction with about half the tire pressure. But obviously you had a great time.. Love your work!!

Yes I also agree, at the time I was thinking that the extra ground clearance from not airing down as much would be more beneficial but it does look like in the video the Touareg would have had a much easier time on some of those rocks with lower tire pressure!

Dillon, where your running in auto lock mode or did you dial in center lock? Looks like auto lock to me. Agree on the pressure comments. An air down would benefit you more that you minor loss of clearance would disadvantage you. Of course, you then need a solid method of airing back up at the end. The stock compressor is not up to the task.

There you go!

What d yo think of your car now?
do you still have it?
what would you improve if you did it again?
I do not still have the TDI, I now have a 2008 v8 that is similarly built only on factory air suspension and 305 30r18s that are way to big but I am in love with it.

Your truck looks insane, Dillon! I love it! I would imagine you're running wheel spacers. Would you mind telling us what wheel spacers you went with?

And, again...beautiful build.

Thanks!

I went with 30mm wheel spacers, They were cheep ones off of ebay I would recommend getting wheels that have the offset you want but I realize thats not exactly easy... I currently am running 18'' Porsche wheels with 30mm spacers but I would recommend the spacers they sell on ECStuning.com
