Hi guys!
I am a new owner to a 2004 V10 tdi. Wondered if I can upgrade the navigation system to something that would show current roads? I know it is a cd based navigation and just wondered what all I would need to do.
thanks,
Tricia

Ha Good luck!

I understand there is a gear head of sorts that can hook you up.....
He Should be available to help. I can get you in touch with him if you like.
He has done some stereo work in the past ..
Good luck.

If you currently have the cd navi then you will need to replace the head unit, and the factory amp. Otherwise you will have to add a new amp, and rewire the damn thing, as the factory amp requires a single from the cd navi to turn on. There is some chat about a canbus converter that would limit that impact if you wanted to update to the newer VW navi unit.

Check the forums, you will see a couple of folks have done it.. but it doesn't seem to be an easy process.

Stay away from the Cables offered by Conexx Electronics in Germany. These guys are unethical, crooks. Paid big $$$ for a cable that did not work. Paid more $$ to send it back for repair or replacement. They then said problems can not be with their cables and to send them another $75 if I wanted the original returned. I lost $400 dollars, have no cable, and have a DVD Navi unit that I bought and can not use.

Given the age and value of the vehicle, just stick with a Garmin.

Thanks for the info.

I have a brand new nuvi that has been working flawlessly.I am going to add a cable for audio for my android. That way I can at least have semi- Sat radio.
.sorry for your loss. I feel the new eby radio would be trouble as well. I don't want to lose functionality.

Welcome to the Forum. Got any details on you Treg?
