She just left for two days so I might have a chance!!

I got some rocker dings on my Treg as well. I personally am not worried about it on mine. I say clean the dirt off of it and she will more then likely never notice. You just crushed it a little, but doubtful you did any serious damage.

My first concern was that I had damaged the sub frame, thats why I posted here for some advice on the car... not on myself.

Here is another pic to show the extent of the damage the rock did.
many thanks for those with constructive advice...

Don't sweat it nwheatstone. Unfortunately I have seen some very passive aggressive behavior on this forum as well. Glad to see that you are a spirited driver that doesn't mind getting into the rough.

I'm sure your sub-frame is fine.

Seriously, wash it, stick it back in the garage and forget about it. It is only appearance and you did not hurt anything. Passenger side she will probably never even notice it anyhow. I barely notice mine unless I am looking for them. The dirt is what is making it noticeable.

Merely a flesh wound.

Research into rocker panel fixes suggests a couple/few hundred bucks Its not a body panel. I should have some before and after pics soon when my panels - and the plastic molding underneath- are fixed.

As for the rocker panel, not a big deal. Not likely you damaged anything structural as long os the door still closes. May be worth removing the plastic panel to insure everything behind is still in the correct place.

Hey thanks for the comments guys and thanks aircooled for deleting some posts of mine and another member...

Its amazing, you go kitesurf for a few hours and all your questions are answered, your mind is at peace and the rain washed the car!

Its in the garage and off to the body shop in the am for a quick bishbashbosh or just some touch up paint!
thanks

If anyone is interested... I run Toyo Tires: Open Country ATs and love them, on or off road and in the snow they have been amazing. The V10 does like to shred tires when driven hard but these things have kept up well... :)

You're vehicle isn't a real off-road Touareg unless you put a little rock smootchie like this on your vehicle. Welcome to the club!!!! :)

Yep, mine has been "smooched" to some extent on both sides. Not that my lease is coming to an end, comes the search for a body shop though :( I'll report back with a fix and cost as an FY for others of what to expect, but it will be a couple/few weeks.

Not to mention the "manzanita racing stripes" from the branches as you go by...
We have a car cleaning/buffing session scheduled this coming weekend in Vegas. Feel free to drop by :)

Well, I promised an update. As I said, I needed to have both rocker panels repaired due to some close encounters with immovable objects. A local body shop took just over a week to repair and refinish them, and they look good. The coating isn't a dead-on match, but it looks very good. The total cost was $665.14, for both sides to be repaired as well as a buffing to remove all the desert pinstriping and other blemishes the paint has suffered with me at the helm. I'd say at this point she looks better than new!

Hope this helps give an idea to those thinking about having their rockers repaired.

Matt
