I’ve always thought these additives were snake oil. We have 55 gallon drums of Stanadyne at work, I put some in my Touareg every other tankful as it’s free. Would never pay for any.

I have always used Optilube. XPD in the winter and their summer formula in the warmer months which is significantly cheaper than the XPD. I mix both with their Lubricity additive. I don't know if my vehicle will ever make it to 300k miles with my driving habits but it makes me feel a bit better. Who knows if the added cost is really worth it and I am like a mad scientist at the pump mixing and pouring and probably looking crazy. All the extra cost and effort...my diesel better look immaculate on the inside! :D

Very poor choice of words unless of course you are a person afflicted with that condition, in which case you need not read further.
I think that is a very derogatory general statement to make for people who had no choice on how and what disability they may have been born with!

I have used OptiLube XPD in the past, and may switch back to it seeing the numbers in the video. I'm using Royal Purple Max-Tane now. I thought I had seen something when I got my TDI and started researching additives that Standadyne wasn't good, or at least that there was better out there. After watching the video, I will campaign against it.

FWIW
I am a religious user of this crap product.
I will guess that I have over 100k worth of mileage of using it across 3 different CR TDIs since I started using it.
These reviews do make me question its benefits, but my personal experience is also making me question the reviews.
Additionally, the cloud point of the XPD red makes it a no option for my up here in polar bear land.

If anyone ever watches Project Farm on YouTube he just did a diesel fuel additive test. Hot Shot's seemed the best overall when tested with different things- including water in fuel.

That is a good comparison video. He had the wrong optilube product though. The XPD would have performed better all around. The hotshots did perform well there. Especially for the price. So many variations of products and its hard to test everything but nice to see some people are doing some independent testing. Lubricity is my number one concern, followed by clean burn, and then corrosion/water contamination.

Came to say this. The project farm video is great and hotshots did the best. If you do the anti-gel diesel additive video, project farm also found the hotshots to offer the best anti-gelling properties.

I'm wondering if Stanadyne changed their formula. Project Farm did the same test 5 years ago and the wear test was much better back then.
Didn't Stanadyne get bought out a few years ago?
I used Stanadyne for a lot of years on a Golf TDI, a Passat TDI and now my Touareg TDI.

I made need educated as I didn’t realize spastic was a disability. I call myself a spaz all the time. I use it in the sense of someone who is “anal retentive” and always has a certain idea of how things need to go. What spastic are you speaking of? I didn’t mean to offend and you are the first person who has ever told me spastic was derogatory. I am on the spectrum of autism if justifies my nature.

I appreciate your honest reply, all you need to do is do a look up on the definition of "spastic" and you will see it's very much opposite of your interpretation.
I'm sorry for your condition so you would know, to some extent, what a disability can have on your life and loved ones around you.
Thanks for your reply.:)

Of course. I never want to make light of a disability and I always sympathize/empathize with people who have conditions that they can’t control. I am a soft hearted guy and like to include everyone best I can. I really meant more as a personality trait not as a physical condition. My group of friends have always used the term for a type of behavior of being “over the top”. thanks for your insight as I want to foster inclusivity and not offend anyone.

Come on now Tony. This is what he meant. At least, us Americans know this. Perhaps it holds different meaning over there.

Anybody wish to provide feedback on these figures. I have been running Flaslube Diesel Lubricity enhancer for the past 12 years since 2012 with probably only a small number of gaps. My car has now done about 360,000 km.

Let me know if you think these are good or bad..
