My car is a 2008 V6, current mileage in the car is 17000 miles aprox. the check brake pads alert is on, I feel that it is a bit premature for it to be on, as well that since the 5000 service I did alert the service advisor about a squeaking noise when moving from completely stopped and he said it was normal on touregs, im kind of in a bind, cause the dealership wants almost $500 for front pads, not even rotors and pads. Can someone please advise me how to go about this?
Thanks!

Remarkable savings for overseas Touareg owners on brakes

Thanks, T-eggblue!

Just a footnote: T-eggblue is located in Germany... It seems that after the value added taxes and the dollar vs Euro translation costs, it was far less expensive to order the kits from me here in the USA and have me ship them via an APO box on the US Mail system, then to purchase it in Germany.

Wow!

In fact, I recently had two such clients, plus I have recently learned that Australian Touareg owners can save around $1000 AUD by purchasing the parts here from me and having me ship them via Schenker freight forwarders.
Australia very politely does not tax or duty any goods under $1000 AUD, so the cost of freight becomes the only added burden.

So for all the Australian Touareg owners on the forum, you may want to seriously consider this new opportunity, now that I am aware of the remarkably high cost for dealer parts in Australia. (quoted by a VW dealer in Sydney at $2286AUD including VAT) A complete four wheel kit costs $420USD shipped into the Sydney metropolitan area, door to door.

I look forward to hearing from all V6, V8, or V10 owners worldwide. (still haven't figured out the R5 platform!)

Regards,

Geoff

Qualification: the quoted price of $420USD is for the shipping only, not the parts! A complete four wheel kit costs $716USD as of this date. So one adds both quotients together...

Geoff

Geoff,

The cost of the parts in Australia are very similar to the cost here in Canada (from the dealer), and after a year of having your brakes on my Touareg, I have to say they are as good or better then the OEM.

As an FYI for touareg owners I provide shipping to anywhere in the world with a 50% discount thru fedex. For clubtouareg members no membership required on shipping VW parts

If people need pricing, please provide me with weight and dimensions and I will be more than happy to quote.
If Geoff can provide me with that it would help too.

As an example shipping 80 lbs to Sydney is only $337 with fedex.

Brake parts sucessfully shipped to Australia

Thanks Geoff, the brake parts have arrived safely and have been fitted to my V6 TDI. The parts ended up costing A$803 + freight A$486 after the exchange rate conversions. Many thanks once again.

To Australian Treg owners, I can recommend Geoff's services. He even rang me in Sydney to verify the details and pass on his valuable knowledged. The parts, for all 4 brakes, arrived safe and sound in 2 very well packed boxes. All up I saved me aprox A$1000 which I will now put to good use on another project.

I just wanted to chime in. I've done a front and rear brake package through Geoff, and it went extremely well. I also purchased his replacement Xenon's and was very happy with them.

I have been extremely impressed with his knowledge and helpfulness!

Thanks Geoff!

I have yet to buy brakes from Alretta and Geoff as of yet, but I have purchased a set of D1S replacement headlight bulbs. I was quoted 420$ + install from the dealership and ended up buying from Alretta for around 170$ I believe, got them 36 hours later, got them installed in no time and they have been flawless since...

I'm just so glad that we here on CT have been blessed by all the hardwork and committment on the part of Alretta and Geoff... It has certainly streamlined the brake replacement process and the headlight replacement as well!!

Thanks so much

The blessing is indeed mutual, and heartfelt!

Thank you for these very thoughtful, kind words.

I am pleased and delighted to be able to serve this group of attentive and appreciative people, who respect my efforts to provide the best possible replacement parts for the best possible price, with my service and care-in-delivery to round out the experience of purchasing goods.

Many companies do not show much consideration towards either the integrity of the products or to the handling/shipping of their sales. Merchandise can arrive in poor condition...

I am proud to say I have not delivered damaged or defective merchandise to anyone, yet...

I am pleased to be able to offer all members of this forum any replacement auto/truck parts which I may carry for sale. For any vehicles... from 1930 to 2010. Please review my website, http://www.alretta.com for more detail. I can deliver to any responsible party anywhere on Earth, I think!

Please consider calling me for your next brake job for any vehicle you may own.

As a token of my appreciation for the bounty of this business, from this date forward, for clients who buy a complete four-wheel Touareg brake kit, and while supplies last, I have various embroidered "Alretta" logo t-shirts and polo shirts, in various colors and styles, to give away, free of charge. One need only ask, stating shirt size, and I will be happy to provide the choices available. It is my humble way of saying, "Thank You!" to each one of you that can purchase a kit from now till whenever shirt inventory is depleted. All made of cotton and preshrunk, these shirts wear very well indeed: you will find me wearing one in one color, or another, daily at work!

Warm regards,

Geoff

What can I say...

I spent over an hour with Geoff on the phone asking every question I could, speaking about brakes on our C6z06 / my 68 mini cooper / and most importantly my 04 V10. (mind you, Geoff was on his iPhone and iPad because I called a few hours AFTER business was closed. :-$ Thanks again for taking that call Geoff!)

The packages came very promptly, ;) partly because I live by the warehouse. :D I ordered at the start of the week, and had EVERYTHING before the weekend. Made it super easy for me to plan the install and not have to worry about driving my mini cooper (no A/C) in 100*F weather. YUK!

My other package with the tools, all the sensors, and the retaining pins came amazingly over-packaged. I absolutely *LOVE* over-packaged parts, it ensures that my super special sensors arrive in working order and aren't going to give me an issue when I install them.

Installation went smooth, the 'bed-in' instructions were great! Everything else was rather straight forward.

I received tracking numbers the day following my purchase, a follow up phone call and email when the packages arrived. It was amazing customer service.
Geoff, you'll get my business for brakes on all of my cars. Gotta love another Apple user!

Cheers!
-Matt

PS! i didn't know I could have gotten a super cool shirt. :/ Oh well, next time. :)

Just ordered my second brake kit from Geoff. My factory set lasted only 18,000 before the sensors popped. The Kit I got from Geoff lasted almost 40,000 miles!!!!! You can't beat that on a 6,600 pound suv! And....Heavy aggressive driving. I can't say enough about the kit. Everything you need to replace your brakes the RIGHT way in one afternoon. Get in a bind....Call Geoff, He is one heck of a nice guy. He'll help you figure it out! Where can you get sevice like that. Not the dealership. Go to the dealer If you want to pay over $1600 for brakes that WILL wear out in under 20,000 miles. Get the "kit" from Geoff...you will not be disappointed. Thanks Geoff!
Cheers! Don

Kudos to Geoffrey R. from Alretta Truck Parts Inc.

Back a couple of months ago, after reading so many good reviews on Geoff, I drop an email to Geoff asking for a quotation for a complete Touareg V8 brake system. Excited I could not wait for the next day; I picked up the phone and called Geoff.
I had completely forgotten about the time difference, even so, Geoff -in the middle of a dinner- picked up the phone and he promised to call me the next day… We spoke a couple of days later.

After close to an hour conversation with Geoff, email exchange over iPhone and iPad [btw Geoff you rock], the man is a walking encyclopedia! I was awfully impressed with his knowledge!! Without hesitation, I ordered my complete brake system [front and back disks and pads, the whole shebang].

As he mentioned I am stationed Europe, in less than 10 days, he shipped out my kit about 110+ Pounds. The kit arrived in exactly 11 days in perfect conditions, beautifully packed.
We are talking about 110 pounds from US to Europe in less than 2 weeks. Top Notch service is an understatement!!

I fitted them on my Treg 4 weeks later. I did not have a chance to write my review nor try them till a few weeks ago where I drove over 2000KM [over 1250 miles] on German motorways towards Austria, down to Budapest heading down to former Yugoslavia…

Man… J they BITE, doing 200-240 km/h [125 -150 mph]… Put them on test a couple of time… Holy cow!! They bite, dry or wet, you name it, they BITE!! To my opinion the brakes feel better than the OEM and definitely produce less dust.

Geoff, I cannot thank you enough for the brake kit. Your prices were far less than those quoted to me from my dealer, you saved me over 500 euro and you were a tremendous resource…

It was a pleasure doing business with you.

To ClubTouareg members, I would highly recommend buying from Alretta if you are in need of good breaks!

Thank you once again!

How about 110 lbs shipping to western europe in 4 working days for $290.00 with fedex? (no membership required)?

Or sydney Australia with fedex for $400?

need to combine that with a new propshaft, valve body or other expensive VW part?
I have made several people very happy on this forum and shipments have gone to Germany, Holland, Iceland, Australia, Indonesia and Nigeria (no these last 2 were no scammers, scammers do not order Touareg parts ;))

Thanks, nltomba (Netherlands Tomba, after the great Italian Olympic skier) -

Frankly, there is always a back story; this instance is no different - this client was using APO mail services, he was shipping to a US airbase in Bosnia, and to top off, it was right after the volcano exploded in Iceland and cut off air freight to Europe, especially mail services! So the time it took is more representative of the troubles of the day, not otherwise... his freight costs were to New Jersey, after all, so quite low. Then the US government completes the delivery on their dime.

We've got our cartage services well under control here, you do understand?

Ok, have a great weekend!

Geoff

Thanks Nltomba,

I migth have to take a pass on that... Should I use Fedex with your lower price, I would still need to clear them through the local customs... Which most probably -depending on cases/goods- would cost me heavily!!

As Geoff mentioned I use a different shipping method through USPS and it is waaay cheaper than Fedex. And like I said: -no offense-, the man is awesome and Darn i like his service, packaging... not that you would not offer me good service... but... I am sold. LOL.

Thanks again for your offer.

Have a good weekend, y'all.

Just curious, can you even insure with USPS for the FULL AMOUNT in case of damage or loss?

Here in Canada, customs with FedEX is actually not too bad, They only charge a $10.00 flat rate fee(brokerage fee), because they pay the taxes and duties(if applicable) for you in advance, in order for the item to arrive at your door "on time." Many people don't seem to realize what that $10.00 fee is for. Now comparing taxes whether USPS or FedEX, it makes no difference, with the only exception that things tend to "slip by" easier through the mail service.

UPS is a whole different story however. Their brokerage fees are completely out of this world .

I'll be calling for my kit. My sensors just tripped on my original brakes at 43,860 miles. BTW I'm still on original tires which are on their last leg (tires changed to Yokohama Geolanders H/T-s before delivery) and will be switching to Continental DWS's.
