Here's the mileage for the full tank for the trip from the dealership to Nashville.
Congrats on the new ride!

Too bad VW must think non-hybrids don't care enough about mileage to get the graph and all-in-one screens, or perhaps that was a relic from 2011?

Congrats. You earned it. Was it previously titled or a demo? (And, was I correct about the dealer in Chicago?)

I am now the owner of a 2011 CPO Tungsten Hybrid with black interior with approx 6,400 miles on it! This is the vehicle that had the rotor work and the catalytic converter replaced along the way. Got it in Atlanta.

No vibration problems, thankfully. The car seems pretty spotless, except for two minor issues on the hood - look like chips from the road. Not bad, at all.

Some quick basics of the deal - paid just under $41,000 for the car, which I'm very happy with. (An internet price, $2,000 off the on-lot price. I know, not really meaningful, but a good price for a vehicle in such good shape with such few miles.) Just drove home from Atlanta, and the fuel consumption was pretty spot on.

Actually, no, if I recall the past posts. On my earlier out of town test drive, I drove a very similar car to the one I purchased at the Autobarn VW facility in Evanston. A 2011 Tungsten CPO with the exact same in-service date. The car is still listed for $43,999, I think. Speedometer now about 9500. Logistically a little farther away. Nice dealership, nice people, but couldn't make it happen. And that car has been on sale for months.

I think that the car I got and the one in Evanston are some sort of VW corporate vehicles. Both listed as leases. Identically equipped, same in-service day and registered in Auburn Hills, which is like auto corporate HQ hell.

Purchased mine from Nalley VW in Alpharetta GA. Seemed to be nice people, the finance guy got me out of my PenFed financing onto VW Credit by getting me a few more dollars on my trade.

A minor glitch - they couldn't find the second fob. They are going to send me one and pay what it costs to have my local dealership program it.

One thing that does surprise me is that the original Michelins that I thought were standard on the Hybrids were replaced with Goodyear Eagle LS-2s. Not sure what's up with that, but the online reviews of the Eagles seemed ok. Still a little unusual to have all the tires replaced sometime in the first 7,000 miles.

Lots to learn!

I like the Goodyears. Autobarn in Evanston... I get my service at Autobarn in Mt. Prospect. Autobarn buys a lot of Tregs used by VW Corporate. A lot if them are used for executives at the Tennessee plant.

I thought you were looking at the Hybrid at Jennings...

Did my second oil change a few days ago, sent out a sample to Blackstone for analysis. Today I got my results which I must say are a little disappointing. I am no oil expert but I know a thing or two about oil. What bothers me the most is the excessive amount of fuel (2%) which pretty much kills the viscosity and flash point, I'll upload my results tomorrow (if anyone is interested). A few things come to mind, one is my short commutes and all that stop/start the engine does which dumps a lot of fuel into the oil, second thing is my rings are leaking. What do you guys think?
This question has always been on my mind since day one concerning the Hybrids. To ask a REAL engineer on his thoughts and conclusions on short stop/start cycles and effects on oil quality in our northern frigid climates.

NashTouareg, congratulations on your new purchase!

Sorry - I believe that you had spoken of Jennings having a 2012 that might be what I was looking at, when I posted about my going to Chicago to do a test drive. I didn't correct you, because I was a bit paranoid about someone coming in and getting the car out from under me. So I explicitly avoided saying where I was going.

Apologies if my lack of forthrightness caused confusion, but I was simply trying to keep my prospective cars off of the radar. Hope that's understandable.

How dare you! :p

Thanks for planting that seed with me!

Still, it's been inspected such that it's CPO, and the interior and exterior is clean so... Not much I can do about it now!
I'm sorry, I'm not even sure if i am correct. Besides, it's not like the engine is a pansy. The 3.0T rolls like a boss.

Sailing and Cruise Control

Something I noticed driving home from the dealership - if I had the cruise control on, the gas engine would never shut down, even if I were going down hill. If I turned cruise off, the car would sail, to use VW's terminology, with the gas engine showing zero RPMs.

Is that a downside of using cruise?
