Hi guys,

Can anyone share a long factory coding for 2015-2016 TDI Treg? I want to try Treg coding on my 2015 Cayenne.

Thank you.
Here is the long coding from a 2016:
010200000C008400000000000000000000000000

Please share what your Cayenne coding is?

I'm also curious to see if you notice a difference with the treg coding... :wink2:

Cayenne's coding is 010100000E008400000000000000000000000000
4th byte is responsible for gear indication on a dashboard. Yes, I did notice a difference in behavior - shifting is more prolonged in time, which results in a smoother transmission behavior. In fact, I like Treg's coding more. 2015-2016 CD's coding is quite aggressive, first two gears can be jerky sometimes.

Yes correct on the 4th byte :)

Interesting observation thank you for reporting back.

That is completely opposite of the pre-2015 modules which knowing VAG doesn't come as a surprise :grin2:

The 2015-2016 modules are completely different from the other modules.
I'm still digging into it more to see why, and what is changed.
I think I have a good idea but need to verify it.

What tool are you using to update coding on the Cayenne?

thank you,
Andrew

Put the porsche TCU in a Touareg and use the latest version of VCDS Ross-tech in "Transmission" > "long coding" and then see if you were running "1368" or "1168". I believe the Pepper Cayenne TDI setting is "B068" but please confirm and verify that.
There are other tools available as well that can diagnose and code the Porsche vehicles.

2014 and earlier cayenne coding is B168, 2015-2016 is listed above

Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to get the Cayenne coding for my fixed 2016 Touareg.

I made the change yesterday. The transmission seems to shift quicker and firmer particularly in the lower gears with the Cayenne coding. It used to seem to gradually slide into third gear. Now it is nice and firm. This is what I have been wanting. The vehicle seems much more responsive to throttle with less lag. I drive only in sport mode so I have not even tried normal mode.

It seems to have slightly more Diesel engine noise when cold but that may just be my imagination.

Glad to hear, are you fixed?

Yes. It was fixed when I bought it so I have no “before and after fix” comparison. I have to assume, from what I have read, that this is more like the “pre-fix” performance.
It utilizes the pre fix SHIFTING POINTS for the AISIN 8 speed transmission. It does NOT utilize the fueling /air/boost/ EGR/timing and DPF burn off maps that the original Electronic Control Module used, when new. Mine is down 8-10% on MPG, and feels down more like 15 to 20% on torque for off the line acceleration, and the rpm range where it was designed to be driven in with the original shift points. In other words, it drives like a dog gasser V6 3.6 SUV, not what I test drove and then bought off of the dealership lot. It used to pass on a 2 lane road with ease... no longer. Few here anymore than know what a 2013-2015 pre fix TDI drove like. Power and torque to spare, if you needed it, but didn't abuse it too often. Towed great. Now, it's just a partial shadow of itself. Like going from a D cup to a B cup. :grin2: You can lay the blame on CARB and the EPA, NOX isn't the big issue they make it out to be, not with how few of these TDI's are on the roads here in North America.

That kind of what I figured. I have no complaints with the way it drives or tows but, just knowing it could be better has me looking at options for gaining more torque. Mine is a 2016 with only 9k on the odometer, so I’m hesitant to do anything at this point that might put the warranty at risk.

You don't know what you are missing, until you drive a pair, side by side, or back to back. I guarantee, if you could do so, you too would be swearing at VW with a "WTF did you do to my car?" If I could get a Euro 2014 TDI 240HP ECM mated and in my Lux, without getting caught during CA smog checks, I would do it in a heart beat. Or if I could just revert to a pre diesel gate factory flash, I would. The courts forced VW to offer so much payback money that almost everyone took the money, and ran with it, and got the reflash, so very, very few have a Touareg with a full load of testosterone and balls, to compare to. Go to EU and get to drive one, and you might experience how it's really supposed to drive.

Cough-cough

For those trying to get Gear Display on a 2016 Touareg TDI with 'fix', I was able to get it. Not sure if this was already solved, but here it is.
Ignition on, Engine off, doors closed and unlocked
Using VCDS
02 Auto Trans
Coding 07
Long Coding Helper
Byte 1 (Second Box)
Change from 02 to 05, Binary 00000001 to 00000101

Optional: Transmission reset
Ignition on, Engine off
Press and hold accelerator to the floor for at least 10 seconds
Release pedal
Ignition off, remove key

Original value: original long code value 010200000C008400000000000000000000000000

New Value: original long code value 010200000C008400000000000000000000000000

I did not need to reset the transmission for change to take effect. Less than 400 miles on New, Fixed 2016 TDI Lux. I did not notice any change in shift behavior, no Malfunction lights, just 'D1' when shifting into drive directly after change.

For the 2014 Touareg:
- the TCU fixed flash file is FL_0C8927750CF_3376.frf
- the elusive predecessor could be FL_0C8927750CF_2470.frf
- the 2470 isn't in the Flashdaten_Volkswagen list

So, for the 2014s , was the fix only a change to the long coding?
Does selecting Cayenne bring the shift pattern back (or close) to original?
Does anyone have the original map?

There was more done to the 2014's than just the long coding.

Cayenne coding still isn't near what the pre-fix or my TCM tune is like.

2014 Touareg 3.0 V6 South Africa coding

Hi,
I received my VCDS yesterday and got straight to changing my coding to the one for the Cayenne. Here is my original scan of the tranny:

Address 02: Auto Trans (J217) Labels:| 0C8-927-750.clb
Part No SW: 0C8 927 750 BQ HW: 0C8 927 750 BQ
Component: AL1000 AISIN 002 2530
Serial number:
Coding: 003568
Shop #: WSC 31995 001 1048576
ASAM Dataset: EV_TCMAL991031 002115
ROD: EV_TCMAL991031_002.rod
VCID: 7CA001FF96636367C2D-8028

No fault code found.

I'm in South Africa and this is the coding that the car came with. I seem to have always had fairly good engine braking and looking at the controller, it seems it is "pre-fix". I don't think anyone cares about fixing something to do with emissions on this side of the world.

I also found some interesting "experimental" stuff in my Long coding section (see attached screengrab): It seems my coding is EU/RoW with Start/Stop + GSI. What the hell is GSI? What's also weird is if you choose the coding from the dropdown it puts a letter "C" at the end of the coding for some reason. I.e. if I chose my 3568 coding again, instead of it being 003568 it shows up as 03568C. It does it for all the options. But if you manually edit the bytes in the boxes and leave the "C" out then the dropdown box "detects" what you have put in there and shows it as pre-selected.

Anyway I just changed my 003568 to 00B568 and it seems to be fine. I didn't bother erasing the learned adaptations. It seems to pull away quicker and not be so lazy with the shifts. Engine braking is also even stronger now than it was before.
