dear Sir,

I have had a problem in my car( touareg hybrid 2011) is says failure hybrid system. I don't know wat too do.
Go to a VW dealer who has a Hybrid trained technician. Note that not all dealers do, so you will need to check first.

2012 Hybrid with 40k and he wanted $32,000.

The 10K battery scares the hell out of me. Do VW extended warranties cover the Hybrid battery? I know they are warrantied for 8 years.

Can a back up camera be added to the Navi screen since it was a factory delete for this model year?

How much have people spent upgrading the stereo amp and speakers? Are you better off just replacing the entire system?

Chipping seems to add significant gains in horsepower. Does it increase MPG?

You should be able to find something for under 30k.... just have to wait for it to hit the market, hybrids are HARD TO FIND.

The battery is not a concern, long term studies on li-ion car batteries have been promising. its the electric clutch/motor and wiring you need to watch for. and 3rd parties can refurb batteries for cheaper. theres a genuine hybrid battery on ebay motors right now for $6500obo - its been there for atleast a year.

there is NO chip for the hybrid and currently no US tuners. you'd need to do something 1-off custom at this point. and I would expect some improvement in MPG.. not enough to outweigh the cost of the tune however.

your best bet on stereo upgrading with the non-dyna audio is to upgrade from the factory amp and get a digital sound processor to liven the current speakers up on the factory HU. it'll run you around 1k. brands like Helix, Audison have integrated AMPS with DSP that run up to 8 channels so even your tweeters would be run on their own channel from the mid woofers to get better cutoff and control from the whole system.

tuner wise there are a few Cayenne hybrid tunes out there for the pre plug in models which bump output to 450hp. The 3.0T motor responds well to pulley changes on the blower. Turns it from being a fast SUV to about as fast as you get this side of a Cayenne TT. The pre plug in cayennes run an identical powertrain setup to the treg hybrid, so its all cross compatible as its a mechanical tune.

Im currently talking with a tuner in the UK who has done updates on the hybrid t3, he is going to try to send over an tune file for a local shop here to update on the OE ECU. the date is set for June, so we'll see around then.

APR is showing the Touareg Hybrid in the Application guide now. Anyone else notice?

With the 93 octane we get around here it seems to indicate increases of +122 HP and +93 FT-LBS which would bump us from 380/425 to 502/518 if my math is correct. Holy ****!

I will be contacting them!! this looks promising. I would prefer to do this vs getting a tune file from a UK shop and having a third party install it (which is what im currently in the books to do on June 5th)

One more 2012 Hybrid here...

I think it's about time that we Hybrid owners had our own dedicated thread :) It seems that there are only a handful of us here but hopefully our numbers will grow with time. It would be great if we can post our problems and experience (hopefully good ones) in one thread instead of many different threads scattered all over the place. Please feel free to log anything hybrid related.
Can someone point me to a thread on oil change DIY. I am going to have dealer do mine first time around (purchased certified 2012 Hybrid) but I am curious what is involved. Searched 'oil change' within this thread but it turned up stale for lack of a better term.

Thank you.

Nothing special, same as any gasoline engine. The only thing you need to watch out for is the amount of oil which was revised by VW to battle "oil making" problem.

Anyone else here have a hybrid where the E mode button doesn't work, EVER? Mine used to but for the past year it's stopped going into emode entirely. I dunno if they updated something during one of my oil changes, or if it's an actual problem.

I'm at 105k miles and mine has more issues now going into E-Mode. I can hear the fan under the rear seats on max when it won't go into E. It still works most of the time, but almost seems like it overheats easier than before.

UPDATE FROM APR

I have called APR and they have confirmed that the 3.0TSFI tune listed for 2+gen touareg does NOT work on the hybrid....

I informed them this was the only touareg offered by VW with the 3.0 supercharged, so they are going to be updating the website shortly to likely eliminate this "typo" DAMNIT!!!!!

Alright found another tune option....

Racechip out of Germany has their ultimate available.

Claims 316 kw+ 29% electric output.
430 HP + 29%
559 Nm + 27%

When I bought it on Amazon with prime they included free expedited shipping and a $67 discount off the listed price for $611 total.
