208 (Wheel HP) x 1.35 = 281 HP at the flywheel
354 (Wheel TQ) x 1.35 = 478 TQ at the flywheel

How did you come up with the 35% driveline loss figure? That's a really high figure. With high mileage being an important target nowadays vehicle manufacturers are going to great effort to reduce driveline losses. It's more more likely that the engine really is making in the 240s as that's around a 20% loss.

In my head I think I can accept a little more diesel clatter, especially if it's mainly at cold startup. And I really don't care about higher adblue consumption. I doubt I would notice small changes in HP or torque.

But a decrease of 3 MPG would bug me. That's basically 10% and takes the TDI down closer to the FSI range. Would not be very happy about that.

I'm not willing to accept any diesel clatter in my head.

Registering via my iPad doesn't work. I enter the VIN and it just returns me to the registration page. I had to use a PC to register. Some kind of bug on mobile version of the registration page.
Worked on my MacBook Pro using Firefox.

This had me laughing harder than it should have. Thank you.

On a realistic note, who is planning on putting their Touareg on a dynometer both before and after the fix to measure actual power loss? I know one of you are crazy enough to do it. I would be interested in seeing the results.

I'd also have to imagine VW is required to provide actual power loss numbers for a few test vehicles in presenting the fix for approval. There isn't going to be $500 for a single owner or a select few that lose more than 5% power. It will be $500 across the board or not at all.

I see everyone coming up with numbers for their buy backs, the one variable I cannot understand is where the previous owners payment comes from. Are the buyback numbers stand alone? In the settlement paperwork there are three separate columns.
1) BUYBACK
2)Approved emissions modification
3)Former owner

My Passat didn't have a former owner so no help there.

After reading through the documents again, it appears that the $5155 + Difference between clean and retail prices + taxes is what is split between owner and former owner(s) so 1/2 of that amount would come from the buyback column. But…VW will add whatever number to ensure that the owner gets at least $6K restitution.

Ugh

The specs I see listed for my new (to me) Q5 TDI say 240/426 yielding combined 27mpg. Theoretically that could be dropped to 228/405 and 24. Still good. However, I predict a much smaller decline in these areas. Eight gears to work with and a fat hp/torque curve between 1700-3000 rpm. We'll know more within a year.
I would also say you're right and I think VW knows that they have fudge room for Gen 2 Touaregs between stated performance/ mileage and real world performance/ mileage. We all know the TDI outperformed EPA MPG certifications and that was probably testing on a slightly de-tuned engine cycle. That means getting similar numbers as those shown on the Maroney when it's fixed.

The Gen 1 vehicles don't have any wind in their sail for beating the Maroney after a fix; older, heavier, and fewer gears in the transmission.

You probably won't know if the previous owner made a claim until VW submits you an offer to buyback. That is 'IF' the previous owner submits a claim and the letters announcing the settlement haven't even hit the mail yet.

Good Evening Guys,

I hope this thing is working out for all of you. I was hoping someone could take a glance at my numbers.....

2015 Gen 2 Sport Technology Clean Trade 31,000 less 3975 for mileage (66,000)

To get a complete buy back 27,075 x 1.30 = 35,197. I owe 39,000 for round numbers..... so 4k out of pocket to get totally out

Repair and compensation = 10% for 27075 = 2707 + 3596 = 6303 cash in pocket plus repair.

I saw some one post something about a 3000 bosch buy out?? Where is that and do I get that as well?

Thanks
Cooper

Hey Guys,

I called VW Credit to ask some questions about the buy back..... I guess I misread.

The woman I talked to a women who seemed to understand the program very well and was very nice.

There is no buy-out for the Gen 2's..... only the repair program.

She said my repair program amount would be between 6300 & 8700.00 but

I failed to ask if that range had to do with the mileage or not but my NADA mileage deduction is 4k

I'm also going to talk with that lawyer shortly since he emailed me again last night.

What are the odds this will not be approved by the judge on May ? 2017?
I think it will be a done-deal by 05/05/2017. All I can think of is all the trouble and expense that VW has been going through to both setup all the websites/portals/claims and the hiring/staffing, never mind all the hours and cost that have gone into all the legal documents, so much has been done behind the scenes that there is no way it will not be approved. Yesterday, all the parties once again signed all the documents posted up online related to the agreements. All it needs is the judges rubber stamp and a few more rounds of input from the objectors.

The most telling part is that VW both wants to, and has already proposed and agreed to what they want to do. It is not like anyone/any agency has pressured them in any way(this is debatable of course and I like to further the discussion(s))-it is like they have both plead guilty and have assigned themselves their sentence for which they really don't need anyone to tell them what they can and cannot do based on that.

If VW wants to buy back vehicles, that is their right. They don't need anyone's permission any more than any of us need to be able to sell or trade or do whatever it is we want with our vehicles/possessions. Now, because VW has committed a crime, they need to provide above and beyond for their wrongdoings so everyone wants to make sure we are all covered/healed for our hurt. Read: We. Want. MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Long live VW (Until I get my $$$) and then VW can go rot (until they come out with another TDI or better motor).

Hi All, I am having difficulty calculating my milage $ adjustment for my 2011 Touareg tdi, I bought it in december 2014 and I now have 85k on the clock, does anyone know what the + or - $ will be for me? I am debating parking it so that I don't get hammered on milage, i put about 1500 miles on it a month

Understood, still need to know where that $ comes from if they participate.
How does VW find the previous owner?

How does the previous owner prove ownership during the relevant time period?
