Lots of good info in the is thread. To help those based in Melbourne, I just spoke with Volkspower in Burwood and they quoted $1100-1200 to have brakes done on my 2011 150Tdi. Using Zimmerman parts. The gent on the phone said these were same as VW OEM.

Certainly better than the $1300 front and $900 rear I have been quoted by South Yarra VW today.

Looks like I'll go to Volkspower once the light comes on/

Brembo provide VW with calipers and discs/rotors, and PAGID supply pads.

Zimmermann are aftermarket disc/rotor suppliers and have been happily used by quite a few people on here with PAGID pads.

Ok, I'm somewhat confused (after a lot of research).... what pads options for my vehicle... ?

I have an MY13 - 2012-06, 150kw TDI with "1LC" option code front breaks - these use the two pin not single pin Brembo 17" brakes.

From visual inspection these DO NOT have the weights on the brake pads, and are a two pin design, not a single pin design.

I have phoned around/emailed numerous brake shops, and no-one is confident in telling me what EBC pads i would use - without inspecting them first - fair enough??!? (Not even EBC Australia)

I've looked at Hawk LTS (great feedback) but this page is saying these fit my vehicle but are obviously not the right ones.. - single pin design.

This page says EBC DP31908 (not DP31922) pads for "1LE" - brakes (north american)?? Is this a grey import vehicle? Looking at an old EBC catalog DP31908 are two pin design... (are DP31908 really for "1LC" not "1LE"??)

EBC Oz gave me the DP31922 partnumber not DP31908? New code perhaps?
But the EBC catalog shows DP31908C
EBC-2010-Pad-Shoe-Catalogue

So, what is the go? Can anyone add anything in Oz, what pads I can use?

BTW, Can others who know please update the following which what they know.. :)
REFERENCE of which aftermarket items suite which vehicles....

My local VW dealer has done both ends of my Treg for the princely, but not extreme price of $780 and $870.

Matt.
Exactly what Schootsie said, x 2. The 1LC Calliper has been the standard V6 TDI option with Treg's since MY 2008. There are many suppliers out there with pads to suit. I personally recommend the TRW GDB 1670, which is supplier by ABS. Well priced, with excellent performance, and moderate dust.

RDA Australia make a high quality Rotor for about 50% OEM pricing and they are grey cast iron , which means they will last for a long time. RDA are associated with EBC who also have a suitable pad, but I can't help with a part number.

Mate the 2.5tdi has a lot of stuff that is common to a VW transporter not the normal touareg stuff.

Hi Kazan,

You can swap Brake Components between a Touraeg 2.5 TDI and a VW Transporter (and others) however you cannot use Brake Components from other Touareg Models. The steering knuckle is, as you have found out, a different assembly. The below link tells the story.

Volkswagen - TOUA - 2005 - The front axle, transfer case, steering Teile Katalog (Pats Catalog)

If you have access to a good quality machine shop with a CNC Milling machine, then may be able to design and build an adapter between the knuckle and the Calliper. However it will take a good and skilled engineer to get it right. Adapters are not unheard of in brake calliper upgrades, but I would suggest this would be unusual and may prove to be very expensive.

On the other hand it would be an interesting Project!!! Best of luck which ever way you choose to go.

I own a machine shop and could design and manufacture some adapters, but I wouldn't, the increase in liability insurance for that type of work is prohibitive. If there was an accident caused by brake failure, even if it was nothing to do with my adapters, I would be in some serious do do.

Hello all. I'm looking at at DIY on all 4 corners.
Had a good run out of Zimmerman rotors and Textar pads on the front, about 40,000km

Tried Tooley's for some more Zimmerman rotors, but they have nothing in stock for about a month which is longer than I have.

Options that I've been able to track down are:
- RDA rotors with Bremtec Euroline pades at around $660. From what I can tell, these are ceramic pads, so probably won't offer the same performance of pagid/textar
- Textar rotor + pad kit from Spares Box - $770
https://www.sparesbox.com.au/front-...ont-rear-brake-pad-and-rotor-set-textar-textar-textarvwkit-97-39-textarvwkit-97

Anyone had experience with either setup? Or care to throw another option in the mix?

Also any tips on where to get the 16mm spline/12 point / XZN tool for the rears?

Cheers!

Love zimmermann and pagid combo, must for the v10, great feel and braking power, i dont mind the dust over safety

tried Ate ceramics.

Would be interested to hear your views on these

Where do you normally get them from @Singh? Zimmerman seem to be a bit hard to come by in Australia.
Get it from overseas, will be cheaper, try bma parts amongst many others.
Use CTA as discount code
Or pelicanparts or ebay...
