^^Your logic is impeccable, but this is VAG we are speaking of. Are we sure the two can be mixed?

:-k
We'll see what Mueller does. He keeps talking about distancing brands. If he does this quickly and kills the Touareg then there's going to have to be some effort around moving Treggers into the Audi or Porsche showrooms.

Thoughts on legal representation? Is anyone considering a lawyer?

My local dealer has no 2016 TDIs in the lot. Wonder where they went? Two weeks back, there were five on the lot. Maybe all are towed to a central location.

What exactly would you be suing for? The issue with the 3.0 is with the software that controls the temperature conditioning of the exhaust catalyst and a software fix has already been submitted to regulators. You are going to have a tough time showing how you have been harmed in a way that deserves compensation, and even if you win, what do you expect to get?

Perhaps VWOA hauled them off after refunding dealers so they can take them off of their floor plans. Central location? Back to port for shipping somewhere else? Ask your dealer manager.

I agree with the first sentence.

More then likely they are being stored elsewhere until this all blows over. I know my dealer in SLC has a holding lot that customers would never be in anyhow just down the street. That is where theirs are sitting for now. I know a friend of mine works at a dealership in OK and he said all theirs are sitting behind the dealership not for sale. i doubt VW is buying them back right now.

That makes sense. I wonder why move them at all?

That makes sense, too.

For the 3.0 owners, going the legal route is a lose-lose situation, meaning (1) if you join a class action and accept a class settlement, you are doing your part to ensure that a handful of lawyers buy new Bentleys and otherwise become multi-millionaires while you receive a relatively paltry settlement and foreclose any future recovery of your own (LOSE) or (2) you file your own fraud-based lawsuit and be prepared to spend a lot or your valuable time and disposable income (meaning hiring a lawyer) in prosecuting your claims while hell freezes over with no certainty of recovery (LOSE). At this point the legal route is more of a last resort. I'm speaking for myself, but if I was considering asserting a claim because of diminished value, etc. -- and I am not -- I would wait until I see what remediation and restitution is being provided. Too early to tell at this stage.

I thought Dido was Aeneas's bit of crumpet who came to a sticky end!

Thanks guys, I appreciate your input.

I have a "wait and see attitude" on this. As long as the software update has no effect on the power and mileage, we in the for the long run. We have a well maintained and fine running machine that can tow our RV perfectly.

I am a bit concerned VW will apply a band-aid fix. We have very high expectations!
