Correlation dtc's mean there is a dispute between the camshafts and crankshaft mechanical timing. Make sure your engine oil level is proper as the chain tensioners use engine oil pressure to work. Clear dtc's and test drive, if the same faults trigger... sorry but you need to drop the motor, split the trans and engine and replace the chains, guides, tensioners and adjusters.

But chains on FSI engines are supposed to be maintenance-free? What can be happens to the engine if I just ignore this errors? I really want to repair this fault, it could be dirty sensors? is that possible? or all 5 sensor damage? just guessing options.

Here is a photo of the chain setup, the FSI has different heads but it looks similar when you tear it down.

My Touareg has only 47800 miles on it, that's why I'm concern about this errors. What's your recommendation in order to resolve this? definitely I need to pull out the engine and change all the parts involved ?

Check your oil level, low oil can cause camshaft dtc's due to starving the oil controlled tensioners. If you clear the faults and they return pay the diagnostic fee at a competent VW dealership and make sure, better to know 100% and spend thousands rather than guess and spend thousands.

Oil level is on MAX mark, so it isn't the problem. As you recommend I will go to VW dealership and pay a full diagnostic and see what happens. Thanks a lot for your time and help. I will let you know the results.

I believe you know a lot about this engines, I have just one more question, in your opinion if the problem are the chains, guides, tensioners and adjusters, this is a mayor failure and can cause several damage in the short term if it's ignored?, or a medium/minor failure that only cause loss of engine performance?

When the chains stretch enough or a couple guides break it can cause piston to valve contact.
Story time: I bought an S4 a while back with the 4.2L and the motor blown, I scanned the ecm before tearing into it and found dtc's just like yours. When the piston hit the valve in my case the valve broke off a caused the piston to explode, the connecting rod came out of the bore and started to jackhammer the engine block untill it cracked and lodged the rod so the crankshaft couldn't be turned. The parts cost me around $2,200 (usd) and a motor I was lucky enough to find for $1200 used from a forum like this. I am a mechanic so the labor was free but I estimate it around $2,000 in labor.

Oh man! I'm sorry about that. I'm not a professional mechanic, I just like to fix/repair all I can in my cars. That's what I try to find people like you in forums to have a better idea of what is happening. I always believe that only in timing belt motors things like you described occurs. Thanks a lot for your advise, I really appreciate it.

Hi, just getting my Treg back from VW Dealeship, the results of the diagnosis is need to replace:
1) Crankshaft Position Sensor PN 077905381N (Is it the Engine Speed Sensor (G28 ) ???)
2) Fuel Injectors need to be replaced PN 079906036C (all 8 with Fuel Injector Repair Kit PN 06E998907G
3) Spark plugs

There is any way I can test the fuel injector with VCDS? I don’t get any DTC reporting injection problems.

Which are the best spark plugs for our Touaregs?

I'm going to order just the Sensor PN 077905381N and try to replace it by myself, and see if the DTCs disappears after replace. I don't understand what's the problem with all 8 injectors and sparks plugs.

Rolvieira, this sounds a bit odd. If you believe your timing is off what would spark plugs and fuel injectors have to do with it? I would ensure you have the proper recommended oil (weight and type) in the vehicle as well. Also if you do the spark plugs, you should be able (with all eight of them out) to rotate the motor manually to whatever top dead center is on the V8 and check the top end cam position to foot (I guess with a scan tool since everything is hidden in the motor). This might tell you if something is stretched??? Anyone?

You have to pull the valve covers off and install a locking pin in the crank, then use a special tool flat bar to see if the cams are on time with the crank.
