Hi, I've a 5 year old V6 3.2, great car, chews fuel though tows well but I'm thinking of going Diesel with a new one. I just seen the new prices and specs for the new models in Aussie just announced yesterday: -

The 150Kw TDI is drive away ~ $70k, where as the V6TDI is 178Kw is $86k, the specs suggest they are identical engines (3.0 litre) but the 150 states 400NM against the 178 with 550Nm, a big difference?

In the UK these are knows as 204 and 245PS models, aside from the niceties (luxury options) the 150 seems a great buy, but given it seems to be the same motor is it just de tuned? If so can it be chipped or altered, one would suggest that this may be more a marketing exercise than an engineering job?

Does anyone know the differences between these too engines?

The new prices are:

150TDI $$70,903
V6 TDI $86,474
V6 TDI 4XMotion $91,674
V6 FSI $86,474

All with 8 speed autos.

Not sure about the specs on the 150TDI but it looks very good value compared to an BMW X3.

Cheers

Also worth considering the run-out of the current model, if you can find one! Just paid for our 2010 V6 FSI demonstrator with sat nav, auto tail gate and 2.5 years factory warranty; $63K drive away. Picking her up this week and can't wait!

Sounds reasonable to me......not many "old" Tregs left to choose from. You'll be happy with it.

Popped into my dealer today to look at one.
No luck, nothing in the West yet, however staff were excited about attending the launch in the Barrossa next week!

Just put a deposit on the V6Tdi yesterday. Engine aside, the extra $15000 gets more and bigger comforts inside, better leather, but also the air suspension, and some of the other options are not available on the 150Tdi. Now just have to wait 6 months to get to drive it.

Congratulations on your purchase. What colour did you choose and did you get a good deal?
I've been looking in Brisbane and also like the V6 TDI, they are really keen to do deals up here, looks like they want to move the cars. I've been quoted $5000 off RRP so far. I will probably put a deposit down next week.
Very nice to drive, love the NAV system and colour info screen on the dash. I desperately want the LED lights and Panoramic Roof on mine.
Not sure what colour to pick though.

Well if you are looking for a 150 TDI then the you are in a good position, VW Australia had planned on this being the volume seller however someone forgot to tell the buying public so everyone is ordering the 176TDI/180TDI. Just about all stocks until the end of the year are now allocated.
So good stock levels available on 150TDIs if you want the real value Touareg currently on offer.

Just ordered my Treg

4XMotion MY12 White with air suspension, area view and sports interior - $87,900 drive away after dealer discount (includes $2,500 corporate discount). Delivery anticipated Jan/Feb ... no rush, but looking forward to it.

To complement wife's black Golf 103TDI MY09 (Black).

Goodbye Kluger!

VAG produce the 3.0 V6 24v TDI CR ranging from 150 Kw to 195kW, including fitment in the Phaeton and also a marinised version. Not too unlike the Ford Falcon XR6 in-line 6 pot and then augmenting the crap out of it and dropping the same donk into the F6 Typhoon. Same-same, but different.

I also wanted silver but ended up with a white T2, the colour just grew on me and now think it's the best colour for the Treg, looks classy when clean, looks clean when dirty, cool in the Aussie sun, what more do you want.....love it!
Hope the magic works for you as well!

I too like the white on the Touareg - both T1&T2
