So I have a question for all Touareg owners out there - how many miles are on your odometer? I'm wondering how long this thing's gonna go for...

1,587 had it for only a month.

56,xxx KM's on my 04 v10. Owned it since 25,xxx km 11 months ago. It'd be nice to see some high-miler's post what they've got on their machine, and what major (if any) needed to be fixed.
That's exactly what I was wondering... about the long term reliabilty and costs of the ol' Touareg. Damn fine car, but I'm starting to rack up some miles...

9,000 and change on the 08 V6. Consumer Report hasn't been especially kind to the Tregs as to long term ownership. Of course with the T2s (not Terminator 2) all that will of course change !?!?!?!

45K on an 04 V6 and been great. I just did the brakes on it and may need to get another set of tires for it, but it has been pretty damn flawless.

40,652 miles

2005 V-6 base model...owned since Aug 2007. Had to do brakes, of course, fuel pump let me down w/36,500miles on odometer. Towed free and replaced under warranty. Still, it was big disappointment.
Definitely considering extended warranty purchase...Anyone?

Go to the classified section and look under the thread labeled The new VW Real Driver Extended Service Contract. 13 year vet explains how the new rules are for getting an extended warranty if you go over the 50k mile mark. Many people on this forum have purchased extended warranty's from him and I have read nothing but positive responses.

Just hit 40,000 on my 2005 CPO and it has been virtually trouble free except for a battery replacement under warranty. I couldn't be more pleased, and I am doubly pleased with the service I get at Cable VW in Oklahoma city.

48k and change on my '05 V8. So far the battery, a rear seat frame, and rear driveshaft (infamous whine) have been replaced under warranty. Dropping it off tomorrow morning for a couple of minor issues (dash rattle, bad remote range, noisy coolant pump). It's a CPO and I bought an extended warranty as well so I'm really not too concerned about any issues that do crop up while I own it.

So, the rear driveshaft, with the infamous whine - I have experienced that as well. VW will replace that under warranty?? In other words, that noise isnt normal? I had a Pathfinder that did the same thing. Wondered if that was common in SUV's.
