If you emission system is working properly, there is no need for additives just take a long drive occasionally for a passive regeneration to occur. If your DPF is clogged beyond 75%, you may need access to VCDS for a forced regeneration. Like Drag said, this takes place in your driveway and takes 20-30 minutes.

As designed the emission system works with the DPF and regeneration etc but I am a fan of the additives also.
Why you may ask well I see it this way
Australian T2 V10's and also my Peugeot and I am sure others have the fuel based additive.
The V10 was seen fit to use the additive by the factory in favour of the fuel based regeneration in some models so it must be assumed that it works. My 2009 Peugeot also has this fluid but also has the fuel based regeneration so hope this extra helps keep the DPF clean.
Like all these DPF additives their use lowers the temp at which the contents of the DPF burns off so if I have the choice I use the fluid and have no problem with recommending the use of such to others.

But I may be wasting money but its also a feel good thing.

He still just has to do a forced regeneration additive or not.

Dragline, to be clear, isn't the additive you are talking about for the V10 and the Pug Eolys fluid which is in a separate tank on the car [rather like ad-blu] and is refilled every 100,000 miles or thereabouts, or removed and refilled every 5 years, whichever comes first, and is not the fuel additive you buy from an automart and pour in the tank each time you fill the car?

Some people swear by them some say they are a waste of money. I'm not sure if there is any data that supports either. Because there is no biodiesel mix where I live, I use Power Service Diesel Kleen in the silver bottle for added lubricity. I want my HPFP to survive the life of my vehicle. As for my DPF, it's going bye bye along with the EGR soon. My daily commute has changed to less than 10 miles each way and I want to avoid potential problems in the future. Oh and better fuel economy and performance with the stage 2 tune will be nice :)

Nooby quite true
I was just pointing out I believe that additives in this case be either OEM or aftermarket probably have merit in using them.

problem with DPF 3.0

Hi Guys
Just thought I would come back with an update.
I have still been experiencing this limp mode which is a pain.
So far I have had the Vw garage run several diagnostics over this period.
All have shown up normal yet I was still experiencing the limp mode.
Brought it back to VW today and again the diagnostic showed up clear.
This time I asked that they check the DPF pressure sensor on advice from this forum and it showed up clear.
I now know I can get the DPF cleaned but not cheap when labour at €65 an hour is factored in.
They took it out for a spin and where able to trick it into going into limp mode with their computer while driving.
A fault showed up and they limped back to the garage but when they turned it off and looked for the fault it was gone.
Anyway the fault seems to be the Turbo sahem charge boost sensor part number j724 from what I can make out.
But even replacing this they will not say it will cure the problem and its costly.
