Hey Gang,

Just thought I would share some pictures of my new Touareg. It a 2008 V6 with the 19" wheels and sport suspension. I added 35% tint in the front and 20% in the rear windows. Since mine didn't come with wood trim, I also added a wood trim kit. It's not as good as the real deal, but in my opinion (and I'm sure some will disagree) I think it dresses up the base appearance. I welcome the feedback.

haven't seen the interior of the base v6 before, can you post some pics of your climate control area? looks totally different than what we're used to seeing.

nikm, the 2008 base V6 here in Canada does not come with dual climate control. All you get is a large dial on the left for the temperature and another large dial on the right for the fan speed. Not having the dual climate wasn't a big issue for me given that my wife always complained that she felt "my temperature" on her side with my previous Audi A4.

I thought that looked a little different than my 08.. I wonder why they didnt include the dual climate control and the digital fan/temp to Canadian Touaregs? The 19's look great!

Thanks for all the feedback and well wishes. Lets hope I stay problem free for awhile.

Its only the base V6 that doesn't have the usual dual climate control, all the other Canadian models do. (I've never actually seen one without the dual zone, hence the post request). Personally I like the all black, clean look...

Reason they didn't equip it with dual zone is Canada needed a base model with a better (lower) price point, V6s up here used to start at $55K, V8s at $65K, the new base V6 w/o dual zone, w/o fogs, w/o wood & aluminum trim etc. brought the price of entry down to $49K, then you can package a V6 out up to the mid 60's..V8s go from $65-$80 depending on the packages chosen. If you're bored or curious you can check out vw.ca for packaging and pricing. Interesting how different everything is from the US models.

Thanks again for the compliments. Since taking these pictures I had some oval black chrome exhaust tips installed. I'll take some pictures of that once the weather improves and I can wash the car. Stay tuned.

should have gotten more options

I’m actually quite happy with the configuration I chose. It allows me to still customize my Treg to my likely, thereby making it more distinct from others on the road. There is also substantial saving by going with aftermarket products. Bear in mind also that there is a substantial difference between US and Canadian pricing. The base model in the US is $39,320 while it’s $49,975 in Canada. With the US and Canadian dollar being comparable, you definitely get more Treg for your money in the US. Perhaps if I lived down south I may have added some additional features, but then I’d have less to customize. Thanks for your feedback though.

O.k, here is the next installment of pictures. I recently hooked up an aftermarket backup camera. It’s not nearly as fancy as the ones that comes factory on the Treg, but it certainly does the job. This is one of those license plate mounted cameras that transmits a signal to the monitor wirelessly. I didn’t think to include any pictures of the camera itself. I positioned the monitor in the storage compartment above the shifter. When not in use and in effort to avoid the attention of thieves, the monitor can fold down into the storage compartment making the screen unobservable. I also included a picture of my TomTom software on my Treo.

That is an aftermarket wood trim kit that I added to my Treg. Mine originally didn't come with any wood trim.

I had promised that I would post pictures of my aftermarket black chrome exhaust tips. These tips are welded onto my existing exhaust pipes.

Did you install the wood trim or have it done? It looks great.
I installed the trim myself. It didn't take more than 30 minutes to install. It's not hard, just takes some patience to position the trim properly. The kit was purchased from Ebay from a company called BD Trims. They continue to sell the kit on Ebay, although the price has gone up to just over $100 US (item #300176168308). The finish I ordered is their walnut burl wood.

How did you just get just the lower console trim? All the places I have found only have the full kit for the entire dash, doors, etc. Or did you just install the pieces you wanted?
I have 70% of the kit still sitting in the box. I didn't want to cover my Treg with the stuff.

Brushed aluminum like in the BMW we have would be awesome and so much sexier than the glossy wood. Is this out there as a replacement kit for all wood parts - which as I recall are door, dash, and center console parts. The AL would be especially nice in the grey or black interiors.

On a similar note, has anyone done satin black exterior trim? I suppose removal and painting of the shiny aluminum stuff - roof rails, window/door trim, front bumper/grill. It would like the Audi "Titanium" or BMW Sport black trim packages. Certain Touareg body colors would look particularly nice this way. The only problem is I hate to paint things that when inevitably scratched, will then show a brighter underlayer. At least with the bmw trim, most of it is rubber or rubberized rather than just painted.
