I just received my new ANS710 replacement, 991-C042 from SmartAudio24. I was going to order the ANS710 and that same day SmartAudio pulled it due to problems with the units communicating with the Treg, or atleast my 2007. So they released a new unit, the 991-C042, and it just arrived today. I had it plugged in within 10 minutes and it fired up as it was supposed to.
First the positives: it sounds great! So much better than my OEM unit. It also looks great, like it came from the factory, which was important to me. It also seems to have many more options/capabilities than what I need (such as TV).
The negitives: hopefully these are only temporary. First, the touch screen really wasn't working well. It was very slow to repond to my touch and then it would select a command that was an inch or more from my finger. I found the touch screen calabration tool and it improved much, but it is not very sensitive to my touch. Second problem is the GPS isn't finding a signal. I tried the factory antenna as well as the antenna that came with the unit and it won't find a signal either way. So I emailed my problems to SmartAudio and will wait to see what they say.
One other possible problem, fitting into the dash. I read on some other threads that these units are hard to fit in with all the wires. I haven't tried real hard yet, since I want to make sure it is working like it is supposed to. I'm sure I'll get it to fit somehow.
I'll keep you posted on how this goes, I am hopefull that it will work. I'll include pictures once it is all done.
