Hi there!

This is my first post here and first of all I would like to thank everybody that keeps this forum running! It's been really helpful and I've learned so much.

Now I'm hoping someone can help me with this or wondering if someone has experienced the same problem... A week a go I noticed that the MPG display went crazy. Instead of giving me an accurate readout of the mpg's as I was driving, it was spitting out random numbers. Since then its been like that. So i was wondering if there is a quick fix for this to save a trip to the dealership :(.

I just bought the car at my local VW dealer, it's an 05 v6, luckily it's a certified "Pre-loved" touareg and I bought the extended warranty that covers the car for 4 years instead of 2.

Thank you in advance :D!!!

You may be in the "instant average" screen which changes numbers every second. Scroll the little wheel on the steering wheel until you get back to the consumption average screen.

OK that explains... I think I just freaked out when i saw it jumping from 15 to 29.0 ..19.0 then down to 12.0 in a second interval. Now that i know that there's a instant average screen, I came to the conclusion that is very possible that I scrolled down without noticing since i was switching from the radio station control to the MFI to check the MPG!

Thank you!!!

A Touareg getting 146 mpg.... I thought that was only possible if you were going off a cliff with a tail wind!!! :)

If I run mine on a slight decline at speeds above 80km/h, and just ever so slightly touch the throttle, I get 0.2 l/100km, which equates to 1176 MPG.:p

When I'm coasting in gear, mine drops to 0.0 l/100km. (In other words, it cuts the fuel completely when running against engine compression.) What happens with the US spec (mpg read-out) models?
