I have been getting much better mileage now that I live in a more rural area, 12-15 MPG opposed to 8-10 MPG in CA. I fill up every 6 days, between $65-75. ...sucks having to swipe debit card twice at pump every fill up. :-({|=

Edit: to add I just noticed you are in SF, I just moved from Fairfield and I thought the same thing..something must be wrong because I couldnt even achieve low teens for MPG. My Touareg HELLA eats gas :p

It all depends on your driving habits, your area/road types, speed, hard vs soft acceleration, etc. Price of fuel in your area also dictates how much you spend.

Personally, in my '05 V6, i can sometimes eek out 15mpg if I'm very cautious with the go pedal. Generally, I'm between 14.5-15 in town. (This is calculated using the miles driven divided by gallons to fill technique. The MFI readings are more optimistic than a motivational speaker on amphetamines.)

I just filled up this morning. I generally try not to run it down too low, but I ended up filling with 22.27 gallons of 91-proof, which covered 319 miles, for 14.3 mpg. Cost was over $73 @ $3.299 per gallon. If I run the tank down like this, I generally get 8 or 9 days out of it.

(The main reason this was lower than average was some low-range, high RPM romping in the mud on Friday. Since it rained, I had to practice my drifting/donut techniques before I head back home (Ohio) for Christmas. :D )

I'm around $100/week. the good stuff here is $1.15/L ~$4.35/US Gallon.

^^^^:p^^^^^^If I drank like the Treg I would be in rehab, AA and finally in a coffin!!!

I drive it like I stole it for a measly $120 per week. My budget is $300 though - more than that and it's time for an intervention...

BTW - where you guys finding 91 octane? Here in Florida we either have 87, 89 or 93. Must be a location thing?

That is normal. I get around 80$ per week driving like a grampa (no offense to elder people on the board). If I step it a little bit, it is around 100$ like nickm. Trust me, it was quite a shock for me also when I just got the Treg. (I had a Corolla before so imagine the big difference.) lol.

I'm thinking I do alright even with the mud tires. lol I drive 51 miles one way which is 508 miles a week and spend about $72-$80 a fill-up every 300 miles +/- 50 miles. I've gotten as many as 460 miles on one tank and as little as 220. How does that work? LMAO I know!

I think that depends on where you fill up. I have access to the BX gas station (military base commercial gas station) and I will get <250 miles before gas light. Same with Costco/Sams Club gas. With Cenex 94 Ot or Chevron 91 Ot I will hit over 300 before gas light. I'm not ballsey enough to put arco or any cheapo ghetto mart gas in my Touareg. I once filled up at a 76 station with the over 10% ethonal (not E85) and I got +/-250 before gas light, however NOTICALBE power differance. Not woth the extra $5/tank IMO.

We have 87, 89 and 93 in North Carolina as well. For what it's worth, I always have added a can of octane booster to every other tank of gas in my Passat even though I ran 93 all the time. It seemed to make a reasonable difference.

My right foot has something to do with it. This morning I sprinted up to 110mph and realized that I still had my mountain bike on the roof. Did I mention that it's mostly stop and go with a 5 mile strip of wide open interstate? I'm not mad about it. I try to stick with exxon or shell. no less than 91 octane. We've got 87, 89, 93 in Tennessee.

Out here in San Diego, I am paying about $3.40/gal for 91. I get about 14mpg when I drive normal. I am dumping about $100 per week into the egg. I can't wait for the V6 TDI to come around so I can trade my V8 in get some real gas mileage.

This will make you feel better…

Here in the UK it is costing me about ÂŁ100 Sterling (about $190US) every time I fill up at the moment.
Petrol/Gas is costing ÂŁ4.75 ($8.98US) a gallon and Diesel is now ÂŁ4.91 Sterling ($9.32US) a gallon.

Sure does make me feel better! I know we have it easy over here, my wife and I discussed this before and we wont seriously consider changing our driving habbits or vehicle until gas hits $6/gal.

Depending on the price of gas, I'm anywhere from $83 - $90/week.

I must have a defective Treg from reading your posts. I average 17 with a combination of freeway/city street driving.

I was hoping the family SUV would be the best on gas when I bought it... I should have know better when I hit the gas and was charmed by the smooth power in such a heavy 4wd vehicle.

Yeap, 12 -14 miles per gallon is what I average.. city /high mix.

I average about $120 US per week in Diesel. Our prices are about $1.30 Us per Litre, treg takes 100 litres to fill.

I also have a V6 turbo diesel intercooled, and did a economy run lust weekend to our sons farm and return all country driving ... distance around 440 kilometers, fuel consumption 8.5litres per 100kilometers (australian or mpg ) 32mpg and sitting at around 55-60miles per hour or 90 kph, cant complain...... do u have v6 diesel in the states yet?????

#25 ·
I'd be doing about 10.3 litres per Hundred at that speed. By the way drove my Treg right around Australia in 06. Stayed at Albany for two days, took me 5 weeks all up and 23,000 klms. I was able to get bio diesel blend in WA but can't get it in eastern states ?

Glad to find this thread. Just got from Germany my 2004 V8 gasoline, and after a couple of days driving, I was wondering if my Treg was a petrol-cholic as well. You see, I used to drive a 1.6 Renault Scenic (!) which was drinking much-much-much less, and ofcourse I will keep on driving my sweet leased Nissan Micra to go to work.

I'm from Greece and we use either 95 or 100 Octane and I'm using 95 for a start. I need 100+ Euros (Aprox 160$ ?) to fill it up. My consumption since start went down to 14 lt/100Km at the very best when I went to the highway, and showed temporarily up to 30 lt/100Km when driving in urban small roads. Of course all this has to be verified after long term driving.

16L/100km is ~ 14.7mpg (US), which isn't too far off of normal depending on your driving, they are rated at 14MPG city/18MPG highway in a "perfect" world...

When I was on the stock size tires I averaged around 15 under mixed driving

I must be doing something wrong, on my last trip to Arizona from Vegas I averaged a bit over 20.
Normal around town driving will give us about 17
