Just purchased 2015 TDI and wondered if anyone has used this chip and if so what were results

Welcome.

Congrats on the purchase.

What are the details of the chip?

Yeah . . . right . . .

You might get better fuel consumption.

You might get more power.

You won't get both at the same time!

my experience has been with Superchips, this mob out of UK. have had stage 1 on the V10 for nearly 10 years, better power and economy. no issues.
Havent done the same with the 2015 V8tdi yet, but will do once the warranty runs out(got extended on purchase)

Tunit

I've got Tunit boxes on my R50. More power and torque at slightly better economy. Dynotest is attached. I run it on the maximum setting all the time as the economy gets better the higher you set it. On my car anyway. I haven't had any issues with them. Not sure if they are available in the US.

They are very impressive figgers it must be a blast to drive, just curious if you live in Brisbane how come you got the tune in Perth? I have contacted UFI and they wanted to splice the wiring harness and fit 2 of there tuning boxes, is this what you had installed and what was the cost if you don't mind and how long have you had them. I have a Malone tune on mine and i have a small issue but they wont communicate with me. Regards Vaughan.

Don't fool yourself. If you want economy, drive slower. The engine is already tuned for best economy.

If you want more power and you chip it, then more fuel is added. Sometimes remaps will up the boost as well.

I had a chip and saw the oil temps shoot up by about 10-15 degrees celsius. I sold the chip.

The really cheap plug and play chips is a parralel resistor on the fuel temp sensor. It fools the ecu into thinking the fuel is hotter than what it actually is so the ecu injects more fuel to compensate (as hot fuel is less dense than cold fuel). More fuel = more power.

My advice : just leave the thing alone. It's not a supercar and it's by no means slow for a 2.5 tonne SUV.

That's your opinion. You obviously don't agree with mine. I actually worked out my fuel consumption the old fashioned way for months after fitting the boxes, just driving normally, one tank at a time. The boxes have settings of 0-9, 0 being off. I tested it at 0, 5 and 9. The results were unexpected, and that's why I took it for a dynotest. I don't know why you would think I'm driving it like a supercar, but I could and sometimes I do take it for a sprint. Guaranteed if you were sitting next to me, you'd probably want to as well. I'm quite familiar with how the tuning boxes work as I've done a lot of research before installing them. I've had no issues with temperatures or anything else. The car still gets serviced by VW and I took it there after it was fitted for them to check out. They couldn't find anything to suggest that the boxes are going to cause any sort of damage. So to sum up, you might have had a bum chip or you didn't do your research properly. I wouldn't take the tuning boxes off again. The dynotest tells me I'd be stupid to.

Every Euro tech / Volks ... Haus ... Works ... blah blah mechanic shop i know swears by APR. Solid reliable mapping not over stated to wear the engine out but with reasonably significant and satisfying results. .... And they they use them in their own machines.

That seems a hell of a lot of money.

An extra 50 bhp on an R50 costs GB ÂŁ310 from the excellent Superchips here in the UK

Interesting discussion here.

I am mourning the exchange of my 2006 V10 T1 for a T4 262 R-line, and wondering if any
chip will help my new Treg feel more like the old boy ???

Any other uk recommendations other than superchip?

Thanks

Is 262 R line reference to the v8?

#19 ·
No. The V8 Tdi has 340 bhp.

If I want more "get up and go" on demand there is a very effective adjustment which changes the transmission profile and, I believe, engine management. This is cheaper than chipping as it's fitted as standard to all auto Touaregs. You can toggle between sedate/economical and a more powerful setting for brisker acceleration which is noticeably quicker. Adjustments can be made on the fly. There is still the trade off between power and economy though. Located on the centre console in front of the cup holders is a large lever marked "D" and "S".
If it aint broke, don't fix it.

Given that you can access good quality diesel there is another 40 bhp available on the 3.0Tdi in the hands of a reputable tuner.

I recently purchased a Malone stage 2 tune, as well as a DPF/EGR delete tune. Malone has been around for quite some time in the diesel world and seems to have amazing feedback. He's also in my backyard so it made the choice a no-brainer.

I absolutely love the tune! The power availability and delivery is incredible. Launches like a rocket ship and keeps going. Almost identical to my old V10 TDI.

10/10 would recommend.

Does your egr delete tune named "stage 2 econo" in your flashzilla. I questioned malone on this on why its name the econo tune when it is deleting everything.

Hi Chewblekka, I also live in Vancouver, BC and have a 2016 TDI. I just had the TCM tune done by Yrktreg ago and love it. I have also been considering getting a Malone tune done and was wondering if you would be willing to pm me as I have some questions about the tune you had done. Unfortunately I don't have 15 messages yet. Thanks.
