I am now part of the solution, not part of the problem…I hope!
Got the vag-com today and played around a little bit.
I was able to enable the DRL option in the MFI!
I was able to enable the rear fog lights! I already wired them up and I’m happy to report that they work as advertised with the little green icon on the spedo too!
I was able to disable the seat belt warring, both aural and light!
I switched my xenons to non North American and now the front fog lights stay on with the high beams. Not very significant, but a cool option.
I was able to add the TPSM disable to the MFI!
Like I said, I only had about 15 minutes so I don’t have the long codes, but I will get them and report back.
Thanks a lot Siberian, as I used the codes you provided to get me started.
The long code helper is pretty self-explanatory! Like Siberian said, it almost easier then short code because you have hints and options built into each BYTE of long code that is used.
One thing I need to figure out is how to get the gear indicator next to the D or S when driving like a pre 08 Touareg. I’ve seen pictures of it so I know it can be done, just have to figure out how…](*,)

Sean, I edited your scan to remove your full VIN number.

Does anyone know what the "Assistance Driving Light" is??? I do not think its a Fog light, as fog lights are called fog lights...
This is a vag com option and I cant figure out what it is doing.

I changed my instrument panel to Europe mode and the digital KPH display can now be selectable to MPH in the MFI...that is a cool little find. This also gets rid of the NAV acceptance screen crap!

I figured changing the instruiment panel to Europe mode would give me the gear display next to the D or S while driving, but it did not. I also tried AU, SA, JP, and GB with no luck.

If anyone with an 08 or later T2 in Europe (or really any non North American) can get a scan of thier Touareg and share it with me I would be very happy!!!

NAKID,
That is what I thought too, but I selected the "Hi Beam with Assistance Driving Lights" option and I do not notice that anything changed.
They do not come on with high beams on or the fog lights on.
This vag-com thing is fun....

The assisted lighting I think refers to the movable lights that turn as you turn the car right or left.

NOTICE: If you do not have that option do not select it. I enabled that as I was looking for something and got all sorts of eror messages and the program hung. I cleared all the codes, disconnected the VAG-COM reconnected and ran a complete scan again which seems to have cleared the com port error as well as the other errors. So a word to the wise, some options can really do some weird things.

Can anyone tell me whether with the HALOGEN light set-up (irrespective of whether you've upgraded to HIDs from an aftermarket supplier) you can enable the fogs to stay on with the hi beam? I tried the non-NA option in the halogen but that didn't change anything. TIA

No help here. When we were playing with the 6 light salute, all of the experimentation was done on HID equipped Tregs.

On the D, you could via a small wire bridge two ports on the main fuse block. Bummer, I tried just about every combination to no avail.

Here are some further questions and clarifications:

When you run an ALL SCAN and get a log, it's interesting to keep them. Not only should any error codes be present but it tells you WHICH modules your vehicle is equipped with. Thus if you want to test the memory seats (sorry don't remember what code specifically that is) and you don't have memory seats it will give you the standard error "No response from controller". You can thus save time and battery life by only testing those midules you actually have installed.

BUT, in experimenting with the VAG-COM I have module 17 (Instrument Panel). However when I opt for that option I get "No response from controller". Any idea wasssup?

Next question. Weeks ago I set the service interval. Since I run full syntec I really wanted to set it for about 9 months or 9k miles. Since it didn't have 9k, I set it for 6 months and as that is up, I wanted now to set it for 3 months to get my nine months. For the life of me I can't get this thing to show me the service interval adjustment. It simply shows: RESET, INFO. The latter just tells me how long and how many miles to service. BUT the miles to service is blank. DOes anyone know how to get to the setting of this? Could this be linked to the controller unavailable for the Instruments? Thanx for any hints

Pics of my adventures vag-com.
1st is the rear fog light
2nd is the rear fog icon and also the alt speed display in MPH not KPH. Notice how big the alt speed number is now!
3rd shows the DRL option in the MFI
4th shows the Cruise Control icon on the MFI, it truns green when a speed is set
5th shows the alt speed option
6th shows the TPSM disable option

Impressive dude. I just have the poor man's interface. The instrument module question I resolved. Just reloaded it.

The service interval: Yes, I know where it is, but all I have when I select that is INFO and RESET. When you go to module 17, instruments, there is a setting for Service INtervals whether none, fixed or variable. But the onlynmber it accepts is 0 or 1. But none of them correspond to the labels file which could be a 2 or 3. If you select 2 or 3 it tells you "Number out of range". Any ideas??

My module 17, Instruments is the same as you discribe. It will not accept anything other then 0 or 1.
I think I remember seeing someplace that you can go into the security portion of module 17 and play with milage, and service interval.
I am going to look for that write up and will let you know, as I was working on the same issue.

PLO, if you disable the TPMS, does it give you some sort of annoying message that it is disabled or does it just stay quiet? That will be the first mod I do when I get my new Treg if it stays quiet.

On mine the problem was simply calibration. Once I entered a new set of thresholds it's fine. Meaning my TPMS is still enabled. Yeti, you might want to deflate your tire(s) turn the engine/ignition on. Switch it off and pump up to whatever pressure you and see whether it re-syncs.

I don't have TPMS on my current Treg. I removed it awhile ago. I am looking into the future new one I may get. If it is possible to turn it off I just may do that if I get a newer Treg. I found the old system annoying when you had an issue with it. Sounds like the newer one is not any better and has less adjustability. Meaning a relearn feature.

Yeti, the new system has no relearn capability. It is all done in a cumbersome way via the VAG-COM. You have a set of settings for partial load and one for full load. Front and backs have to be configured for both sets - assuming you want to enable the system for heavy and lighter loads. If you don't it takes whatever stock values were loaded in from the dealer or factory. You can turn it off via the VAG-COM without getting any error message in the MFD.

Yeti, from what I understand the older TPSM was pretty bad.
I not had one proplem with my TPSM. I only gave myself access to disable it in my MFI for the cool factor.
Everyone around Club Touareg seams to be singing the same tune as far as the new TPSM being much better then the old.
Like siberian said, you can also change the pressure value with vag com if needed.
I assume his troubles stem from the extreem cold temps up in AK.
As promised I checked out to see if the TPSM light stays on with the system off...I'm happy to report that the light does not stay on. So you can shut it off without looking at a fault or TPSM light...
Just my 2 cents...
