I bought a new switch from what appeared to be a reputable VW parts site (vwpartsnetwork.com) - but it came all scuffed up. Looked like it rubbed against the cardboard box so long, it wore into the surface of the switches & polished parts of them smooth/shiny. Bummer.

Anyone care to share links to where they purchased theirs? Was it in brand new condition?
I just got mine from the dealership. 2011-2015 Volkswagen Touareg Prk Brake Switch 7P1-927-225-A-ZJU | VW Direct Auto Parts

I have a 2012 tdi sport lux and it works fine. Plug and play. Didn't have to code anything in vagcom.

I got mine from Volkswagen Parts Delivered- Shop OEM Volkswagen Parts and Accessories | Volkswagen Parts Delivered

Price was good, shipping was honest (total $71.32).

Mine was inside plastic, inside the box. No way the part could rub against the inner surfaces of the box. In perfect new condition.

No idea what the D version is, nobody responded here and even the people I ordered from were not sure.

A is red. I was pretty sure that the C version was white, so went ahead and ordered it. So the switch backlighting matches the rest of the car.
Just confirming that C variant fits/matches 2015, and includes autohold, before I order. VW parts direct - or VW direct auto parts I guess it is - has for $66 and change I think.

Thanks-

If I wasn't clear earlier, the one with C in the part number was definitely white and matched the 2016 backlighting scheme perfectly. The part fits, the harness plug matches- it's the part you need.

2011-2014 has red backlight, 2015-17 has white, for the retrofit, only red is available. Mine is red and the rest is white, but it is not too bad. The convenience of the autohold way outweighs the difference in color. I got mine from a seller from Poland on eBay for around $30

Part number 7P1-927-225-C-ZJU is WHITE and it works just fine in my 2016. It is available from multiple US retailers-

I installed a used auto hold brake switch from a 2017 touareg. It works fine but I am getting an error in VCDS. Code 0018 electrical failure parking brake. Cleared the code and it was back upon scan. Anyone else have this problem? Maybe it will go away after a few cycles? Thanks for any information you all may have.

I am not sure what the shift gate is but it appears everything is lighting up fine. Buttons work. Brakes auto hold. The mdf changes from red park to green park. Not sure what the electrical part could be. The switch came from a totaled 2017... maybe that’s something to do with it? It was a little dirty when I got it but didn’t appear to have gotten wet.

Hi guys. I live in the states and bought an autohold button from Lithuania for my 2014 Touareg Executive. I was able to take the console apart and install the button. The "autohold" writing lights up but the button itself doesn't seem to work. I have my seatbelt on and the drivers door is closed. I tried activating the button in park, drive and reverse with my foot and and off the brake and the autohold "bar" never lights up and the autohold function doesn't start working. I did a scan in VCDS and don't see anything unusual. Did I get a bad switch? Is there anything I need to make sure i'm doing to activate autohold?

Installing the switch is only part of the procedure. You need to enable it using a VAG-Com cable (dealer or Ross-Tech). The how-to is earlier in this thread.

Figured it out. Read it was plug and play for a lot of people. Found a post online that helped. Went to abs module and flipped byte 16 from 73 to 77 and it's working. Thanks guys.

Also went into parking brake module and made an adjustment to get the green parking brake light when autohold is active. Thanks.

Happy to report that I found a switch for $40 shipped from Latvia on the 'Bay... took a month to get here, but was the easiest mod I've ever done. Not plug and play in my 2015 NA-Spec TDI Exec, but needed to be coded. It took longer to do the firmware update on my HexNet than it did to install the switch. Works perfectly, and I really enjoy the ROW park lamp green/red function. (My old 2011 didn't have that activated.) I did note that the new switch made the ABS throw a couple of error codes while the original (non auto hold) coding was still active.

Thanks for the research, Yuyueyuyue!

Shorthand for the two coding operations in one place:

Auto Hold:
  • Addr 03 (ABS)
  • long coding Byte 16 - from 73 to 77 (01110011 to 01110111)

ROW Cluster Brake Light Function (Green = auto hold, Red = parking brake)
  • Addr 53, sec access 21673,
  • long coding Byte 2 - change to 01 (ROW)
  • - wait 2 minutes
  • shut off and restart, check function

Next on the easy list for me: Amber turn signals.

How did you do that? I want ACC in my 2012 hybrid. ANy possibily that I can do that?
You’ll need all the modules, radar sensors, camera, switches, wiring, and necessary coding.
