Looks like some nice gains for the 2011-2012 models. Anyone try this yet???

What a coincidence though....funny enough, per Siberian's recommendation, I have been shopping around for this precise Honda model myself!.....buy a lightly used Honda Eu2000i generator with 2 HP and 2000 watts instead with the money for that chip tune,........
Common problem with the 2.7T...turbos were borderline. Rest of the engine was rock solid.Second in my S4 having the turbos pushing more boost may have lead to their early death (at 48000 miles), although I did take that car to the track and drove it like a lawless maniac so that might have had something to with it too...![]()
Turbo's on german cars are all borderline, it's all integrated to be near the engineering limits in stock form. Start running more boost, more fuel, lower in the rpms, and you exceed those limits and things go boom. VW and Audi TDI's have been destroying VNT turbo's with chip tunes since day 1, hell, they were destroying KKK and Garret Turbos in 1996 in the USA when the first Passat TDI's came out, and shortly thereafter, chip tunes became available. You can read about failures all day long on TDI club, if you search the archives. That's the way Germans engineer things... I would not want to fly a german built or engineered airplane or rocket ship to the moon.Common problem with the 2.7T...turbos were borderline. Rest of the engine was rock solid.
Some models were prone, while others were not. The BHW Passat is an excellent example of turbo's lasting longer than the chain drive system of the balance shaft on automatic N.A cars.Turbo's on german cars are all borderline, it's all integrated to be near the engineering limits in stock form. There you have it... I can recall quite clearly a guy that handed me some expensive Bosio Power Plus 205 nozzles to install in his car. I also did an oil change for him at that TDI GTG. He didn't have money to pay me a cent for my work, but then after telling me that, (like new nozzles just install themselves and you don't have to check for flow balance due to manufacturing anomolies via VCDS) he went and blew $300 with Jeff at Rocketchip for a stage II tune. Not knowing what he had done, he didn't bother to shorten the VNT adjustment rod about 1.5 turns to slow down the boost spikes to his stock VNT15 turbo to keep it at a manageable level. Some models were prone, while others were not. The BHW Passat is an excellent example of turbo's lasting longer than the chain drive system of the balance shaft on automatic N.A cars. The V10 Touareg on the other hand has its turbo's blow every time the driver sneezes.
I think one can blame the idiotic media on this one, who cry and cry every time a car exhibits anything remotely resembling the over used term, "turbo lag". Manufacturers were thus forced to install, small, easy spooling (at low RPM's) turbos. Daily driver turbo cars now have full boost by 2000 RPM. So in a way, sadly you are right. Unless you replace the turbo to a larger unit, in order to achieve increased boost levels, you are in fact exceeding the efficiency threshold of the unit. Again though, this does not apply on all models, and something one should look into before thinking about reaching a certain predetermined power figure.
I drove my Rocketschip tuned (Stage 2) Passat quite hard for all of its 170000km until I sold it due to growing family. I had zero issues with it, but as I wrote before, my methods have never let me down. My brother seems to be doing quite well with his chipped 2010 Golf TDI with DSG! I write the exclamation point because many feared the DSG would go boom. He has accumulated an impressive amount of mileage, as his job is close to 70km one way. However worth noting, the DSG unit on these newer cars is not the same as the ones that first came out.
Turbo cars in general require a responsible owner in my view. Most tend to not be, hence why chipping them on daily modern drivers becomes a moot point.
If I were in command of all chipped cars, they would all be equipped with a turbo boost gauge, a turbo timer, and oil temperature gauge. Yes, all of them analog to please. Not because they are so much so as compulsory on low boost Stage 1 applications, because most owners are simply in my view, idiots.
I have a 2000, thinking of selling it for a 3000...just sayin if anyones interested...aahhhhh, my day is not complete
What a coincidence though....funny enough, per Siberian's recommendation, I have been shopping around for this precise Honda model myself!
Although I'm thinking of running two in parallel.....
I might shoot you a PM...but isn't that price a tad too high?I have a 2000, thinking of selling it for a 3000...just sayin if anyones interested
And yes you can twin them up, but only US models (not Canadian models). there is a master and slave model, about 50 bucks difference between the two. Had a long chat with Siberian about this before he bought his, I had been running the tandem setup for my camper. A Nice sub 55db 4000W power station of my own![]()
He's referring to watts. The models sell based on peak watts produced, not continuous. 1600/2000 peak watt model or the 3000 peak watt model, by Honda.I might shoot you a PM...but isn't that price a tad too high?![]()
I had the APR performance tune with my Jetta 2.0T and boy was it an awesome! Since it was a conservatively tuned gasser, APR were able to eek better numbers (+40hp and +100 torque).
I wonder if this is also for 2013s, although, hp isn't too big, but smoothing the curve might be nice!
nono that's not my price, i have a model 2000, I want to buy the model 3000, I sold off one of my 2000's and just want a single genny rather than the dual setup that I had beforeI might shoot you a PM...but isn't that price a tad too high?![]()
Thanks niner yes that's exactly what I meanHe's referring to watts. The models sell based on peak watts produced, not continuous. 1600/2000 peak watt model or the 3000 peak watt model, by Honda.
Given a choice, I would prefer to have nothing but 1000i models. The 2000i models are much noisier, at all rpms, much, much louder pops under load.
I built a box so I could parallel a Honda EU1000i to a EU2000i for 3000 peak watts, to run my A/C unit on.
Not if a new 3000 is gonna cost you 5 or 6 grand...Thanks niner yes that's exactly what I meanIf I could get 3 grand for my 2000 though I'd be a real happy guy lol.
Best not to mention that around Wernher von Braun or any of his other friends from PeenemĂĽnde.I would not want to fly a german built or engineered airplane or rocket ship to the moon.
Dude who exactly do you think got us to the moon?I would not want to fly a german built or engineered airplane or rocket ship to the moon.
Not if a new 3000 is gonna cost you 5 or 6 grand...
My unit was practically brand spanking new that I bought used... on original oil, could not have been more than 1 gallon of fuel through the whole motor.... never serviced, air cleaner was spotless... I bought it for top dollar used at $700.... one not too scratched up without the hours on it, in mint condition, if you are willing to spend the time looking for them, go for $500 to $600 all day long. I picked up a lightly used, scratch free Eu2000I Companion with the 30 amp outlet built in, 2 years ago for $600 from an old retired guy that had a 35 foot 5th wheel. He gave up on boondocking and liked hookups and nightly fees more with cable and Wifi.
About a year ago, I picked up a near mint EU1000i for $350. Given a choice, I'd stack 3 little Eu1000i's in series all day long, they are much quieter, and easier to move around due to their weight. Save gas, and fire up only what you need, when you need it.
This is the market in the Los Angeles area. The stuff sitting on Craigslist forever, not moving, are there at $650 and above.
I was going to ask you where you were finding these deals!! I am in LA every 3 months or so on business, mind if I use up a corner of your garage for a few weeks to store a 3000This is the market in the Los Angeles area.
