Doing a running total, I saw that RJ (TREGinginCO) was not added (maybe he was too drunk to read the instructions of the post??), and I forgot to add RvDUB into the mix,

TREGinginCO +3
RvDUB +2

Total 22 people, 12 Touaregs

Not too bad for it only being April!

Hey goofy footed knuckle draggers,

24 people, 13 vehicles.

Matt, you should bring your snowboard. There are usually several snow fields that you can run way up high. Boarding in July can never be beat!

Yeah, Matt - don't worry, we'll pick you up at the bottom after your run ... honest we will

I would bring a pair of skis but feel that would look real odd headin across 70 with ski's on the roof in July.

I swear that there are people that just leave their skis on the rack all year around here. You'd fit right in. I usually try to bring some garbage bags to do some impromptu sledding on.

Two Yokes, one Egg - Confirmed

My to do list is COMPLETE!
-Deposite for the 4th street condo - DONE
-Order 5 New Nitto Grapplers - DONE
-Order Thule 696 Xpedition Roof basket - DONE
-Contact Aircooled - DONE (via this post)
-Contact Vegas Matt to join the Egg Parade leaving Las Vegas - DONE
-Harvest spare kidney to pay for it all..... any volenteers?

My wife and I sincerely look forward to meeting you fine folks --- Folks wagon drivers that is --- get the yoke?

Um, you did remember to buy all new photographic and video equipment, right???

Glad you can make it! It will be a week you won't forget for some time to come.

Today's Update:
32 People, 15 personal vehicles

Just of note, I have pretty much confirmed my participation in the rally - reserved a room in Ouray the other day and the reg is sent in.

I have a spotter / photographer / Colorado S&R friend coming along.
So add two people, one Touareg, and enough communications gear to track satellites :)

So when and where do we pick up the discussion about the I-15 caravan?

* What is the current tally? *

.

Glad you are going to make it! Will you have an external GPS unit with you? I want to get a complete recorded track of this years event so I can make a GoogleEarth route.

Tally as of 6/7 with a few tentatives

31 adults, 4 children, 18 vehicles.

Not to answer for Arkarch, but I have a Garmin III Plus GPS that I'll probably be bringing along. I don't know if it will link into GoogleEarth or not, but figured I'd offer it up if it's needed.

Arkarch, does this mean you'll be a part of our little convoy up from Vegas?

Matt

Convoy - Yes..

I am assuming 0-Dark-100 hours Sunday dawn (though you know its sometimes light at 4:30 am)

On GPS - Yes, I have a few GPS boxes. I can probably loan out one that connects via USB.

I'll also run an APRS (Automatic Position Reporting System) - which is a GPS connected to a digipeater/I-Gate via 2m Ham Radio. APRS is nationwide and viewable on Internet, so if I find a digipeater, folks could live track us online.

Here are two links...
http://www.aprs.net/
and an application based on it..
http://tracking.b2v.org/

Further, I may be able to Internet-out photos/reports to web from remote peak locations using yagi (beam) cellular data antennas... ran a reliable 40-mile link this spring.

So far the plan is to leave Vegas around 6-7am IIRC. Matt and I haven't hashed out all the details just yet. But, if you want to be included in the communications regarding the caravan then PM me your address.

Yep, I remember us talking about departing Vegas at 6am. That should put us into Ouray before dinner.

So, who's all part of this convoy?

-Me (VegasMatt)
-Arkarch
-Nefarious
-plewis
-Irok (if he's on the continent :))

Anyone else that i'm missing?

Matt

EDIT TO ADD: Any idea if VWoA is supplying us with any "toys" to play with this year?

What forgot about pickin me up along the way? :)

Absolutely! Didn't forget about you Yeti, but I'm also pretty sure I'm not going to see you in Vegas at 6am that morning. Well, you're more than welcome to meet us down here at 6, but it might be just a slight bit out of the way for ya :D

Nope, we'll defiantely meet up along 70. I'm looking forward to it, as a matter of fact!

Matt

Arkarch,
I received your PM. Didn't realize you were in Socal.

Everybody else,
I confirmed with the editor of Truck Trends that he is still going to run my article/pics on this years rally.

I am in SoCal fairly often; I was there this past week visiting clients.
(oh, heh - yeah, I have an OC phone - intentionally)

On Saturday I was a Ham volunteer for a mountain bike race across several peaks that make up the Saddleback area between Orange and Riverside counties... got some good pre-Rally practice running 40 miles along Main Divide from Ortega Hwy 74 across to Silverado Cyn, including tackling Santiago (5700') and Modjeska (5500') peaks. I posted a couple photos in the album area.

Probably be back in the area around post-July 4 weekend. Let me know if there is any SoCal off-roading. I can probably drag along a friend who likes playing with his Jeep Rubicon (seen in the same photos).

On odd days, I actually get home to Las Vegas! :)
