There a couple good video's for the Touareg out there. They seemed a lot easier than my Q7. Still a b$tch, even though I know how to get it out now.

Tried to find a video on a later model Touareg but only found something with a T1. Yeah, I can get my hands on it but just need to either pull more carpet to be able to get it out of the tray it's in, probably an easier way that I don't know of...

There should be a screw up front that keeps the tray in place. Pull the carpet forward and you'll expose the screw. Once it is done, the whole tray comes out neat and clean.

Perfect. Just wanted to confirm orientation on that before I go disconnecting seat wiring harness to pull the carpet forward enough.
I'll check to see if erwin has updated service manuals for the 2016, last I checked it was up to 2015 which has been sufficient most of the time but it would be nice to have the current manuals.

Hell yah, got my baby back! Installed the new TCM, did the transmission reset manually, will check in VCDS later and clear any faults. Soooooooooooooo much better! I only did a few miles cruising around but I now have power back during low speed turns, no lag while hoping someone doesn't hit me. Thanks Joe, your work is quite impressive!!
I dig the current gear display next to D or S while driving. I don't remember if I had that before or not but it's a cool feature.

That's a 10mm bolt in case anyone needs it. In my car, it's difficult to pull enough carpet up to clearly see it.

I just sliced the carpet clean to get better access and later on scotch taped it underneath to make it look pretty.

The gear number can be also enabled via VCDS, just saying. I added it in my Q5 since I am a sucker for knowing what gear I am on.
I probably should have cut the carpet, would've made things easier. I vaguely recall seeing the gear number tweak on the rosstech forums but I totally forgot about it until swapping TCMs, good to know.
Any other suggestions on VCDS tweaks?
I really want to do a Malone stage 2 tune, already have a Flashzilla but I have alot of time/miles left on the extended emissions warranty. After experiencing the HPFP failure, I'd hate to have to pay for that out of pocket if it fails again. But they're on sale right now, very tempting...

I did not find anything else very useful and readily coded in VCDS. There are some tweaks floating around here for Ts but that seems to be mostly done by coding specific values into registers, so you will be doing that at your own risk.

I did enjoy Malone Stage II on my T at the time, and if it was not for odd ball transmission issues, I would have been driving it now I am sure.

Yeah, I would have bookmarked some of those tweaks had I noticed anything worthwhile. Depending on the usefulness of the tweak, I'd likely be willing to take the risk of coding specific values in the registers. At the time, I was just trying to fix my ACC disabled issue which is still driving me nuts.

Re: the touareg stage 2, do you feel the increased performance is worth giving up 2-3 years of extended warranty? I know some say they might not notice it but I'm betting for a $10-15k warranty job, they'll look thoroughly enough to notice it has been flashed back to stock. I wonder if it's cheaper to have repaired at an independent mechanic, assuming they can get parts etc.

Malone has their black friday sale going on still, hmm...

How's now? :D
News of the day:
1) Exchange program is up and running again.
2) I started my first special treatment today. These are 3 hours everyday 5 days a week =$9000. Ouch!
So if i'm a little slow responding please be patient.
3) ZF remote TCM flashing should happen late week.
4) ECU remote flashing should also happen late week. This is only for ECU's going back to prefix status. I am still diligently working on a stock stealth ECU tune that will compliment my stealth TCM tune.
So to recap on what this is:
A) Currently if say you have an ECU that ends in 401K. And your software revision is 014. I can send out hardware for you to remotely go back to a prefix software. This will show as such to a dealer. BUT is great for people that want to get a tune on the prefix file, or don't care about warranty, or have their ECU cough replaced cough.
B) My stealth ECU Tune is a prefix file that the dealer can't tell the difference from the latest fix file. Same revision, same CVN, same flash number, etc... Pre-fix stock power, nothing more. I leave the power making to the people that do it for a living like Malone, etc... This is for people that are concerned about their warranty, but want the drive-ability back that was lost with the fix.
B) I'm sorry, but you are incorrect. Dealers will always be able to tell the difference from a complete stock file vs a modified one for the good reason that even if you change revision, software id, bosch sofware id, CVN, you won't be able to alter the flash checksum results. Unless you go in a decompiling journey to disable all the checksum routines in that ECU and there are a lot of them in EDC17.

Plus, everyone who pay for that "stealth" extra and want their ECU tuned afterwards for performance by whatever tuning company (Malone for example) they will get their ECU overwrited by a tuned prefix software with the right CVN, software revision, etc... So all that money for nothing unless they send their ECU to Malone directly so he can do a bench read and that he cares to add his tune on top of your modifications who will be detectable by the dealers anyway.

So 1) You want prefix software and you want to keep your warranty -> make sure you can restore your ECU to fix version using a backup you made before flashing prefix file.
2) You don't want to keep your warranty then flash the prefix software, buy a tune and never look back.

Cheers !

I cannot speak to whether it is worth, no longer in possession of the T due to transmission issues, that the dealer has not been able to isolate and resolve. I traded it in for Q5 but when I was still driving T around, it was a substantially more spirited vehicle, especially with the TCM back in stock.

If you wanna trade your Q5, lemme know. Lol, they're pretty awesome too unless you get one with the engine issues... Bummer about your T's transmission, I thought these were pretty robust transmissions...

The Touareg he had was some sort of factory fluke

So I do have two extra Cayenne TCM's with my tune on it for sale.
One for 15-16's and one for -14's

First come first serve LOL
yrktreg,
Are these still available? I'm embarrassed I didn't come cross this forum earlier. I just last week bought 2 TCUs to try to fix my 2015 Cayenne (hedging my bets by purchasing two) and figured I would sell one if they both got here. One from Spain, one from Russia in hopes of fixing this terrible performance.

My TCU number is 0C8927769AG.

Also, might you have any use for either of the two I have coming in?

Just joined, so please PM me when your schedule allows.

Thank you!

I found a TCM with my part number on ebay. It has a sticker on it saying SW: 1541. The sticker is dated January 22, 2009. It is from a low-mileage 2009 7L with only 43,578 km. Part number is 09D927750LD, which is what my PN is. It has a note that says for US CATA engine only.

If I get it and it isn't pre-fix, would you be able to flash it?
Working on getting the 6 speed protocols worked out for flashing...
So hopefully soon
