Has anyone had any luck buying from E-Bay de ? They list a lot of Touareg parts. I'm interested in getting a heated steering wheel. Can anyone help make that happen? Thanks

I have bought items from Ebay Germany but not Touareg parts. Have not been burned but I only buy from people who had a over 500 or so satisfied sales and I email them 1st to make sure they will ship to my location. I have a question on going regarding the shipping issue with my first Touareg part to possibly buy from there.

I've bought several things from ebay.de and never had any issues. The biggest challenge seems to be finding sellers that take paypal as payment and ship to North America. It helps if you have friends in EU to help out.

This is the way I usually do things:

-use paypal
-buy through the auction only (never direct from the seller)
-make sure the paypal coverage amount is at least as much as you are paying
-insist on insured shipping with a tracking or delivery confirmation number.

I haven't followed these guidelines twice and that's how many times I've gotten burned. Any time I've followed these guidelines and I've had to dispute, I've always gotten my money back.

hope this helps

+1, this system is the only way to deal with anyone on eBay.

Not sure you can add a heated steering wheel to one that wasn't equipped. I would be curios to see if it does work.

You can't add one anyway (unless you are replacing a faulty one)

Well you can but.. You need to replace the 'comfort' ecu (right in the back of the dash board. You also need to replace the loom that runs from the fuse box (under the seat), into the comfort ecu then through the stearing coloum. You have to remove the whole steering coloum to do this. You will also need to re-set your airbag light and vag-com the acr to get the 'new' ecu to work with the tempreture controler.

The only other way I can think of doing it would be to fit a heated wheel and just run a power wire to it through a switch that you could turn on and off when you wanted it. Would also be worth fitting a relay through a switched acc line so you don't drain the battery if you leave it on. May be possible to use a heated seat switch or somthing, you don't want to use a on/off as you need some current limiting so you don't burn the heating element out.

Others (I believe V10 on Vortex) have reported that you need the heated wheel, the clock spring, and controller to add a heated wheel to a vehicle that doesn't have one. No wiring was required, at least in that case.
