What would be your suggestions to the VW engineers to improve the VW Touareg? This tread would be a wish list of ideas that you would like to see on your next purchase.
I would be the first in line to order one!Ditto all of the above plus the following for North America:
- V8 TDI
- Air suspension
- 4xmotion
With V-8 TDI or V-10 or a V-12....whatever it takes. It should be available as options as these engines are available in other parts of the world. What's the harm in offering them in NA? Obviously there are emission concerns in some areas ( California) and some tax issues that may make the V-10 or V-12 not viable....but the V-8 TDI? What the hell is wrong with that? And why not the 4 X motion with air as an option?Limited Edition Touareg X with 4XMotion, air, and every available ROW option is the new top of the line, and priced accordingly.
Include a built in brake controller with hitch and wiring. Why make things so difficult when you have class-leading towing capability?
I’ve heard from Audi Service Advisor at my dealership that Audi plans to compete in a large SUV segment (like Cadillac Escalade, etc.) and is coming up with a much bigger vehicle than they ever build before. Is this possible that this new vehicle will be the one with V12 TDI in it? I am not following Audi news much, but I’ve seeing new Q7 pictures posted on the CT some time ago and this thing looks very crossover-ish and definitely disproportionally too small to have V12 TDI.My Local dealer said they are bringing the V12 TDi Q7 back later in the year.
I want one of those!
Agree. VW tried to make an SUV to compete with Mercedes. All they proved was that they can't. And the dealers haven't got the foggiest idea about how to treat a customer they presumably want to return. [even Mercedes can't compete with Mercedes - the number of problems/issues with their diesel GL/ML is embarrassing but their service departments at least have some class.]snip The ONLY thing that hurt sales was VW's quality.
Most ashtrays are removeable although one or two pompous brands make a "smoking pack" a chargeable option.Thought I'd jump in here and revive an old thread.
Delete my ashtray and cigarette lighter on my '12 TDI.
An ashtray?! What year is it?
Is this a European thing?
I'd rather have an empty space there for my VW coupons![]()
No! Not a DSG, not at any price.Manual transmission option.
duel range transfer case.
get rid of the 8 speed transmission and upgrade the truck to use a twin clutch DSG unit instead for the auto option. If I can't have a manual transmission, then at least the DSG unit would be a good substitute.
get rid of the panoramic sunroof or at least offer an option for the smaller sunroof found on earlier models.
Oh yeah, last but not least, bring back the air suspension!!!
I do feel a bit for you guys - you don't get the same options as the UK (I'm not sure we get everything they can get in Germany anyway) - we get a choice of 4xMotion on the Escape model or 4Motion on the SE & R-Line - air suspension is an option on all.I LOVE the DSG in my MKV GTI! Nothing beats it! That being said, I would not want that in an offroad SUV. On that note, bring back 4xmotion i.e. REAL 4 wheel drive!
Also, x2 on the air suspension.
I purposely sought out an 08 V8 with air suspension, 4zone climate, nav, teak interior and dynaudio; new to me and couldn't be happier. Until I can have all that in a new one, the 08 will be the best year of the touareg in my book.
LR has an obsession with making all it's models fully off-road capable, bad for the image otherwise (and they've got Jaguar for limited off-roader capability) - but then there's no LR equivalent in the whole of the VW Group.I think the only thing missing from the current model year is a 4x version that would include the hardcore drivetrain and would come with air suspension. Land Rover offers their 4x as a $1500 option over here so it's not like it's the holy grail.
Fully agree though even LR realized that the lighter non dual range drive train is what the bulk of their clients in NAR buy. Aside from one of the upper spec Cayennes, there is no other SUV offering with air suspension and a proper off-road drivetrain, sure would be nice if the Touareg filled this void.LR has an obsession with making all it's models fully off-road capable, bad for the image otherwise (and they've got Jaguar for limited off-roader capability) - but then there's no LR equivalent in the whole of the VW Group.
