Im in Berlin right now and had to drive the V6 TDI. I want it does anyone know when it comes out in the states?
... I thought that was supposed to be a "secret" :-# (but then again, you told anyone who'd listen, at the Rally!)Yes, it will be in the United States in early 2009. There have been many posts on this subject. It is a great engine!!!
It was the other part of that message that is a secret for the rally people. If you don't know what I am talkin about then I guess you are out of the loop.... I thought that was supposed to be a "secret" :-# (but then again, you told anyone who'd listen, at the Rally!)![]()
Maybe right actually... A segment on CNBC today suggested 2009, especially late 2009, maybe the time when car sales will recover. Until then there is an expected drop in car sales as many buyers may defensively avoid purchases a) because they may have used home equity previously or b) avoiding large payments until the home market improves. I am sure this has most impact on higher value vehicles. Yeah, it would have been good to have the V6 TDI out by now, but hate to have it sold into a dead market. For once VW might have the timing right (well, maybe 12 months late...but....)
Good point...it is a fuel efficient SUV but its not cheap or affordable in anyones books so this all makes good sense. I wonder how MB is doing with their CDI lineup?. Yeah, it would have been good to have the V6 TDI out by now, but hate to have it sold into a dead market.
I expect VWOA will heavily promote their upcoming diesel lineup in the coming year.. the BlueTDI 2.0 models. Some killer mileage numbers with affordable vehicles should be a good approach. I figure the next big Touareg campaign will be focused on the V6 TDI and leveraged off the fuel-saving brand image-buildup of next year.Good point...it is a fuel efficient SUV but its not cheap or affordable in anyones books so this all makes good sense.
Wow, great numbers! To be honest with you modern diesels are a no brainer....they are at the point where most of the "bad" has been engineered out and all thats left is the good (unbelievable torque, easy to drive, and spectacular fuel economy). I think the V6 TDI will quickly become the top seller in the Touareg lineup.I just read something a couple of weeks ago how MB's ML line is selling at about a 55/45 ratio ----- 55 being CDI sales.
Exactly! It's stupid that the V6 TDI wasn't allowed here when it was introduced in the rest of the world. It's kinda funny how a vast number of Americans (and our government!) complain about using so much foreign oil and fuels, but something that can save an enormous amount of fuel (due to better economy) is not allowed in the country due to governmental regulations. Absolutely stupid!Wow, great numbers! Ya never know... but I think the upper end will be capped by the V8.I think when the V6TDI does show up it's gonna sell like mad! Hopefully our (generally) not-so-friendly dealers don't mark them up and ruin it for everyone...
Matt
I don't want no stinkin Merc!! ; ) I want a V6TDI Treg!! : )V8 pricing will cap it,but I think the price of the 320CDI will have the most influence, odds are that's where all the cross shopping will be and its the only real direct competitor. (ie: German Luxury SUV w/ a V6 diesel engine).
I really hope that the price difference between a V6 gasser and a V6 CDI Benz also translates to the Touareg V6/V6TDI difference. The base price of the ML320CDI is only $1000 more than the ML350 gasser! The Benz V6CDI bases at $45,425. The ML350 (gas V6) is $44,425V8 pricing will cap it,but I think the price of the 320CDI will have the most influence, odds are that's where all the cross shopping will be and its the only real direct competitor.
