Rain sensor is definitely located where Spock says.

... I'm not quite spock, but am pretty sure the light sensor is for the auto-lights function of the T-reg... which is the second setting on the light switch. Automatically controls your lights based on light conditions ie. night/day/tunnel/rain, etc.

I'm not Spock, either. The light sensor detects changes in the refraction of light that would be indicative of water on the windscreen and (if your wipers are in the right mode) automatically engages the wipers. It may also be used for the other light-related functions - not sure about that.

I wonder why rain sensors were developed using optics; the most obvious solution (I would have thought) would be electrical conductivity, but that might be fooled by high humidity, I suppose.

In answer to your question Michelle.... YES... you do have automatic headlights.

From left to right the switch goes like this.

1st: Lights off: DRL's on
2nd: Lights on Auto/DRL's on. Lites will come on automatically when it gets dark enough
3rd: Lights on / DRL's off - but you will have to turn them off manually, they will not turn off when you turn off your 'T' and get out of the car.

Hope this helps!
