I would appreciate any help on identifying the correct part number/version of bluetooth premium kit required to integrate with the following configuration:

Vehicle: VW Touareg 7L6 (MY08)
Instrument cluster: Red MFA (like MY07 Passat)
Radio: RNS-510 version C (Voice Recognition)

I look forward to feedback
Regards
Dave

Thanks for your input guys. I am in direct contact from Chris @ Car Systems and he is actually unsure about this. He says his unit will talk to the RNS however they struggle to get the unit to intergrate into the Red MFD as below.
I can confirm that the Kupfertec unit does NOT work with this dash cluster. The font is Bold, not central and only displays the first 2 or 3 characters of each line. With Kupfertec you must have the full colour version of MFD. :(

The unit you need if you want the correct premium bluetooth kit for the 2007/2008 model is the 7L6 035 730 made by Nokia for VW.
I know because I have one just removed from my Sept 2007 Touareg.
This works with the rSAP system (remote sim access profile) which will read all the numbers from your SIM card and also display text messages on the screen of the RNS510.
I am about to put it on eBay.

I have a 2008 with a full colour MFD. Can any body tell me if the correct 9w7 unit to work with mine is the 7L6 035 73. I currently have the Nokia (crap) base level unit in its red string bag. Does not support Voice or Phonebook.

Thanks Gregtay, I have just purchased a 7P6035730C from Ebay and should have it in a week or two ( allowing for Christmas/New Year). Looking forward to seeing how it works. Thanks for the feedback..really appreciate it..

Mine is running the RNS510, should be good.

My 9W7 is working perfectly, I only have two things to change (or at least try) as soon as I buy a copy of VagCom. They are: Enabling the Phone display in the MFD, and changing the display order in the phone book.

Other than that, all is good. Works very well, excellent audio performance and very easy to use. Voice commands work quite well for phone and RNS510, although it takes some time to get use to the commands. I an get confused if you don't talk clearly.

Other than that, an excellent investment.

Sounds Great

when i asked about the coding for 3C8 &/or 7P6 this is the answered i got...
"Newest Bluetooth modules use UDS protocol to communicate via CANBus, and if your CAN gateway or VCDS doesn't support it, you will not be able to see it."

when i connect the 3C8 i got rSAP only + i can not access from the colored MFD, and when i connect the VCDS i can not access the 3C8 @ all ... i plugged it on my friend's Golf 6 to code it then i plug it back to my Touareg

So if u got the codes for that and can access it using VCDS/VAG-Com please let us know

Best Regards

What version of Firmware is your RNS510 running? I was advised that you need Firmware version 2600 or greater for this to work. I have upgraded mine to Version 2680.

As I said, I haven't had enough $$'s to get VagCom at this stage, so I can't see if this combination works at this stage.

I replaced my MFD2 DVD with a RNS510. I had a Bluetooth 7L6 035 730 (Nokia) installed. When I installed the RNS510 it does work as before. Then I bought a 3C8 035 730B and it does not work. After digging a bit I found out that all the new Bluetooth units need a diferent cable. I'm waiting now for the new cables to see if the new bluetooth unit will work.

I got the new cable. The new cable when compared with one installed has just 2 more wires, I copy the info below somewhere, sorry for the author I can't quote him,

If you swap from a mono bluetooth like 9w3 to stereo 9w7, the streaming bluetooth will only come out the right speakers. If you want stereo streaming bluetooth you have to add 2 wires from the bluetooth to the stereo.

If you want to DIY harness, here are all the parts. You need 2 VW repair wires. Cut them in half, solder w/your own extension wire in the middle, and plug them into the existing connector. Connect pin 5 to pin 5 and pin 11 on the radio to pin 4 on the bluetooth.

The new cable has 4 wires - TEL R+ / TEL R- TEL L+ TEL L-
and another 4 wires - CAN BUS L / CAN BUS H / 12 Volts / GND
Finally a cable that goes to the MIC.

On the previous cable I had all the wires with the exception of TEL L+ and TEL L-, so I only added 2 wires from the 54 PIN connector (connects to the Bluetooth unit) to the 12 pin connector (connects to the RNS510)

I took the car to a VW service center and the guy showed me the machine (VAS XXXX) stating everything OK but could not communicate with the control module...

@jmpmestre

ya the problem with the CAN GateWay in Touareg which is not communicating with new devices

i used the wiring extension with the same diagram u mentioned.. but still can not access it since my BT device was not coded :(

I have a Ross Tech cable now and here are my findings:

When I have the 7L6 035 730 (Nokia) installed everything works. i.e. all the menus on the colour MFD and all the menus on the RNS510. When I connect the Vag-Com cable it does not show the adress 77!!!

Then I connect the 3C8 035 730B (9wz) and nothing works in terms of phone. When I connect the VAG-COM it does show adress 77. When I try to connect it says "NO RESPONSE FROM CONTROL MODULE"

My wife has an Audi A4, so my plan is to connect the BT module 3C8 035 730B (9wz) and then try to insert the codding.

Anybody has any hints???????????

@ jmpmestre

Have you opened Address 77 in the CAN-Gateway address 19 (see long coding) ?

Update from all my tentatives to make the 3C8 035 730B working in a RNS-510 (touareg 2)

When I connect the BT module I see the below screen

The words (sem ligação) mean no connection

This screen looks like is waiting for a phone to be paired, I've tried several phones (Blackberryes to Nokias) none of them connect.

Anybody have this same screen when the phone is not connected?
If that's the case how do you connect?

Many thanks

The pairing of the phone can only be done via MFD.

All these new modules (3C8 rev B. etc.) use BAP communication protocol with the cluster and T1/T2 clusters do not use it, so you will not be able to do the pairing.

You can find the car with the BAP compatible cluster (I believe all new models after 2010), install the module there, pair the phone via MFD and transplant the module to your Touareg.
