Most fuel filters are located between the fuel tank and the fuel injector. Your owners manual should have the location of the fuel filter listed. If the manual doesn't list it's location, you can ask at your local auto supply store or car dealership parts department
Thanks for share . Its very helpful for us .

I'm not dumb. But where exactly? Service guy at the dealer talked me there is no fuel filter. Its life time. That's why I'm asking you guys if you know exact location of the fuel filter.

The V6 has it in the tank? The V8 has two...one on each side under the rear seats. And yes the filter is integrated with the pump.

How about the T3 TDI. Free maintenance is almost up and will have to start changing the fluids and filter myself.

It's not a replacement item. If your fuel pump goes out, you replace it along with the fuel filter, if not you leave it alone. Not so much an issue of "can" you replace it. Yes you can, but not a convenient job and not suggested by VW, thus unnecessary.

I think VW did not intend the Touareg for dusty or dirty conditions, therefore it is not replaceable. I only use mine on super highways and if it's too dusty or dry I always keep it in the garage, since it is air conditioned and filters incoming air.

I am always concerned about preventative maintenance and I realize what a delicate vehicle the Touareg is. The fact that the Touareg is probably the 7th or 8th VW I've owned ...all previous VW's I've treated the same way...doesn't bother me too much, since I understand how incompetent VWAG is at designing vehicles for adverse conditions.

If you are using it in areas that are dirty, it's your fault. Let's not try to shift the blame on VW. They are in Germany!

+1 to Yeti

Also, buying dirty fuel and driving in dusty conditions are two entirely different things.

The Touareg was made to drive through the outback, get a quick rinse, pick up your date, and arrive safely at the Sydney Opera House in your finest for a night on the town.

I can't believe the ignorance of some of these replies. I sure am glad this thread is long past. For anyone just starting on this forum and really would like the real info: The fuel filters are accessed under the bacK seat. They are part of the so-called flange that secures the fuel pump inside the tank. It's not a regular maintenance item, but there's a problem with the acryllic that causes the flange to crack and leak fuel. There's now a re-call (Long overdue). I just wonder how many owners have been conned into replacing a defective part. It's about a 2 hour job to replace the filter(s).
