That's really interesting. What year is your Touareg?

 

Mine is an 06, but they had a lot of them I think they're giving one to everyone or maybe she just gave me one because once uppon a time we worked together somewhere. LOL

Spokcat, how much are you selling yours for? I just personally like the VW one myself because how it sits on top of the other and the way it covers the edge. I didn't really like the factory dropdown look much.

I'd suggest anyone looking for it to ask your local dealer first. It just might be a free promotional thing.

 

They did that in '06 as a retrofit fix for the shallow cup holders (or should I say "cup launchers). They eventually redesigned the cupholder assembly to be deeper without the added insert.

The current cupholder is on the top and left in the picture below. You cupholder is the depth of the one on the right.

The new ones can be retrofit into older Touaregs and I sell these cupholders.

 

I'd throw that thing in for a test drive, because mine is way too shallow. I need to just bite the bullet and get one from Spockcat.

I just installed the deep cup holder from Spockcat in my 2004 and it is a big improvement. No more catching fast food cups as I round the corner.
