I am considering an 05 touareg with air suspension.

I plan to do lots of offroading but I'm trying to decide whether to go for the air suspension touareg or something like a lifted jeep, Tacoma etc.

I'm trying to figure out what the highest setting on air suspension would compare to in terms of lift/clearance on one of these other vehicles?

11,8 Inches whit air springs in highest mode. Also:

Approach and Departure Angles: 28/33

Breakover Angle: 22 (steel springs) 27 (air )

Lateral Driving Angle: 35

Static Angle: 45

Maximum Gradiant: 45

Fording Depth: 19.7”(steel springs)/22.8” (air)

So for comparison a jeep rubicon has
10.3" ground clearance,
44degree angle of approach
40degree angle of departure
25.3 breakover

So it seems that the touareg's biggest issue is the angle of approach/departure.
Is this a problem for touareg owners who off road?

Is the 11.8" ground clearance enough or how much more can you get with bigger tires (or I guess what is the biggest tires you can use)?

I think 31.5 is the limit on non TDI Tregs. 30.5 on TDI due to the intercooler vents on the inside front fender wells. There is a tire thread here on the forum that discusses tire size limits and how wide you can go before rubbing. You're not gonna fit tires on it like you would a Jeep. No wheels smaller then 17" either as well as no steel options.
