VW OE LED interior courtesy/footwell/luggage compartment lighting

Hi all, not sure if anyone cares or if this is already known but figured I would share...

I have a 2016 Touareg and have always hated that VW updated the interior with nice LED lighting for the overhead map lights etc., only to leave the footwell, door courtesy and trunk lights as the old style bulbs that are that ugly yellow color.

I tried all the aftermarket LED upgrades, the cheap Chinese LED replacements that have a million LED's etc. All were/are way too blindingly bright and looked terrible. I much prefer the stock, unmodified look over all else.

So I went on the hunt and found that VW makes LED versions of all the above listed lighting fixtures that are plug n play, matching the color of the existing interior lighting and look exactly how I want, like they came from the factory.

Part number for the bi-color red/white door courtesy light is 3G0 947 411
Part number for the trunk/luggage compartment light is 2K5 947 101B
Part number for the footwell light is 5G0 947 409

The only one I am unable to find is the glove box light at this point. So if anyone knows if this one exists and what the part number is, please share. (unless they never made an LED version of this one)

Well researched. I have upgraded with LED versions but used cheap Ebay items which so far 6 months in are ok & no issues. Will you post some working pictures at some point? The OEM door red/white are ÂŁ60 a pair, while the Ebay ones which are pretty good, are ÂŁ15.

Awsome find! How do 3G0 947 411 shine, brighter than original bulb?
When you will install them, please post a ton of photos.
Thank You!
It is much brighter, but not obnoxiously bright like the aftermarket options. I didn't think to take comparison pics before throwing the old lights away. The light is better/evenly distributed as well. It has two LEDs inside. I had already installed everything when I made this original post. I will take pics in a few days and post them...

Where did you pick up that luggage/trunk light up at? I googled that part number and it didn't come back OEM. Also noticed it's made by Trucklite for VW AG. If it works, it works but I just didn't see it anywhere except for German sites. I wonder if there is a newer part number.
I ordered everything from Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat OEM & VAG parts | oemVWshop and they are all OE VW parts. I could be wrong, but I think the majority of small parts like these are not made by VW themselves. I don't even think VW manufactures the headlights we have on the car. Truck-lite made these luggage lights, Hella made the door lights etc...

I know this is an old thread, but wanted to thank the OP for this info. I just replaced the door courtesy lights (my car has lights in front doors only), footwell lights, and cargo-area lights easily today because of the great info provided.

For anyone that has done this, I also have a question: Has anybody also changed the single bi-color courtesy light on the liftgate? It looks the same as those on the doors, but due to different placement of the wire connector on the new LED lights I cannot get it to snap into the liftgate correctly, it is hitting the metal of the liftgate. I wonder if there is another variant of the light with a different connection orientation or if others have found a way to make that one fit.

Thanks again OP!

Hi MikeyG,
Did you ever solve this fitting problem?
If so could you please share the part number of the lift gate light that does fit please as I'm looking to fit same....

adidas,
Appreciate your input, have you installed the Ali express trunk and door lights and are happy with them?
Any codes thrown that need attention after fitment or are these not monitored by the canbus?

Thanks, Tony_B

Thanks @adidas I have ordered one of the 3ED947411's for my liftgate.

On a related note, has anyone found a glovebox LED replacement they like? I tried an LED bulb replacement, but it was way too bright. I know the OP had not found a suitable OEM LED option for it.

Yes have seen these, the thing that put me off was that the newer ones (Pro6000) is rated at 100lm and the older type you got, I think was 45lm so am concerned it will be overly bright in that small area.
Looked everywhere but cannot find a 30mm festoon with the 45lm specs.
