Ross-Tech is the one and only.

I was just wondering if there are any sites that sell vag-com for less or if rosstech was the way to go. Not looking to do much but also own an Audi so thinking it would be good investment.
Best you can do if you want to pay less, is to post up a WANTED ad in the classifieds here requesting one. You never know, the guys who are selling their Touareg's in the classifieds, might not need their VCDS anymore.

Here's one http://forums.vwvortex.com/showthread.php?5541018-**********FS-VCDS-License-with-Micro-CAN-Interface**********, Note: not mine, not endorsing the seller or product.

Not sure what your intentions are with the dongle but, you also have a few other options. 1) RS Strauss, all over NYC and they will scan codes for free. 2) Join Audizine, Fourtitude or VWVortex and find a member with a dongle and ask if he is willing to help. There usually is a group of "heads" who meet up and I guarantee you, someone has a Vag-com and is more than willing to "pull or clear" codes for you.

Don't get me wrong, coder readers are great tools if you are handy with your hands and have the time/resource to address codes yourself. It can also be a deterrent...I've seen dealers/mechanics who do not appreciate "too much" customer input. Regardless of what you say, they will follow protocol anyway - there is the easy way, but there is also the "by the book" VWOA way...guess what wins?

Good Luck and have fun!

Ross tech has a list of dealers as well, so you can buy it from a local shop (if there is one) and build a relationship. Shocking concept in modern times I know but you could try it.

Got My Vag-com from IDParts.com last week with all the Filters etc required for 40K service and saved shipping cost. Registered the Vag-com with Ross-tech no problem. I've had fun/frustration doing a bunch of changes I've been studying on here:). Next week the 40K service.

Spend the money at Ross-Tech. Their support is second to none. I realize we all want to save a few bucks, but if everyone bought knockoffs, Ross-Tech would go out of business. Sometimes it's better to spend the money - especially in support of a company that has been a spectacular supporter of us. It's not like they are one of the "big" companies. It's a small business.....
