VAG com is a diagnostic tool consisting of a cable which connects your Treg to a laptop or similar and some software. It is apparently very clever, but not cheap.

The cable connector is under the dashboard on the left close to the light switch.

Depending on who's posts you read, it's either the single most important item in the universe for a Treg owner, or an over-priced gadget

VAG-Com stands for Volkswagen Automotive Group - Computer [I think!] it is also now known as VCDS. It is an electronic diagnostic tool made and sold by RossTech [do a Google search]. If you don't plan on ever doing ANY work on your Touareg (or any other VW or Audi product) and don't ever want to find out for yourself if the dealer is ripping you off then you do NOT need to have access to one. Otherwise you do!
Ross Tech periodically updates the program that goes on your computer - a Windows machine only please - BootCamp on my MacBook Pro works it just fine - so that can always be used on the newest products, and all the old products too. It plugs into the OBDII port under the steering wheel of your car (USA).

I need help from anyone in the Los Angeles or surrounding ares with a Ross-tech Vagcom cable. I cant pass emissions by 1 mode and I was told in another thread that you can force readiness with it.

Need Help Reading Codes

I'm in the Detroit, MI area and need help reading fault codes on my Treg. If anyone is able to help please let me know. Have a "System Fault Workshop" error and need to eliminate any unnecessary repairs. Treg runs fine besides the error shown every now and then. Need to know what codes are being stored. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
