Hey ArgonSr -- if you come down to MSP for service (IMOLA or Luther Westside), I'd be happy to run codes for you. I've got a VCDS.

Horton,
I was wondering if you will be around tomorrow as I will be in the cities.
perhaps if you have a little bit of free time I could stop by and have you run a quick VCDS scan for me.

I did try to PM you, but it said your inbox is full.

please PM me and let me know. Thanks.

Remedied the inbox issue (silly limit anyhow). PM sent.

Well I finally found time and a warm garage to tear into the Treg a little bit. So I pulled the intake tubes off and looked at the ASV's and there was definitely some carbon build-up on them. Although the right bank (the one that was throwing the code issue) was worse then the left bank, I ended cleaning t both sides out. I got most of the big crap out.

Attached are the before photos. And I didn't get any of the after, but the Treg hasn't thrown another code since I cleaned these out. I'm happy with that.

Also, I had bought a pair of K&N high flow drop-in replacement air filters and decided to put those in at the some time. So far I am happy with them. I don't know if there is any power increase, but my average MPG's have gone up about 1.5 mpg's, which is decent. I know it may not seem like much, but it still helps.

Now I just need to wait for the warm weather to return (3 months from now) so that I can remove and clean the intake manifolds. I think I will do those as well, just to make sure they are clean.

Thank you for all the advice and knowledge. I'm looking forward to learning a lot more from you guys and gals.

I had the same codes and took the chemical way out. I put a can of BG244 in and let it do its thing. I went from a few workshops to a whole tank full of workshops, it was throwing workshops on top of workshops and towards the end of the tank it started slowing down. I gave my wife a ride during that tank and she finally asked, "what in the h@!! is going on!." A few tank fulls later, I was code free. That was more than half a year ago.

BG244 is nasty stuff, so, change the oil. Long term fix, maybe, but, a bottle just before every third oil change, why not? Short trips let it soak into the gunk.

No it is a diesel additive and maybe I am being a little too careful, but, the gas version 44K can get past the rings and is not something you want in your oil long term. Diesels have much better ring control, but, I would rather be safe than sorry on that one.

I have no idea on Diesel Purge

Well I am still getting a CEL even after doing the little bit of cleaning that I have done. So I am guessing that I will need to change out the ASV at some point.

My question is, does anyone know where to buy the anti-shudder valve other then the dealer? I'm wondering if there is are any re-man'd version out there that might be cheaper.

I have done some digging, but haven't really found much. I did find the following website (Control Flap VW TOUAREG (7LA, 7L6, 7L7) 5.0 V10 TDI - de 10.2002 313 HP buy cheap online - Control Flap - Engine Air Supply), but I am unsure if this is the correct part. Also does it matter if the part is Euro spec vs US spec? by doing the price conversion, I could get both LH & RH units for the price of 1 from my local dealer.

OK, so I have been looking and looking, and I just now realized that my last 2 posts are for (2) different parts of the intake system. (smacking open hand against head). So I have found the EGR valve through either www.rockauto.com or www.autozone.com.

But that still leaves me with trying to find the Anti-Shudder Valve. Which I have only been able to find at the one site listed above (from Europe). And this is the part that I need.

Does anyone have any suggestions on where I might be able to find the ASV/Air Supply Control Flap other then the dealer?

See if you can find a part number on the one that's currently on the car. I can't tell from that link if that's the right part or not.

Got the part number. And it looks like neither of the options that we found work. My number is 07Z131063. At least I confirmed that they are Pierburg brand units. Now I'm at a loss.

I wonder if you can interchange these particular parts. I know and understand that you can't always do that. But it looks to me like the difference in the units is what engine code you have. And in all the websites that I have looked at, the part looks to be the same on every site, just with a different part number.

Are u sure the part is faulty? Have you cleaned your asv and surrounds? How many kms has your touareg clocked? Heres mine at 150000kms Takes about 45mins to clean each side

And heres when its clean and functions properly Remove the air intake pipes and undo the 4 screws securing the asv. U will spend the next 20mins cleaning this gunk and then remove the egr part clean it and put it all back
