Looking at a tyre change on my Treg. Looking at Michilin to replace Maxxis Bravo at around $300+ each. I have come across Federal Couragia S/U for around $165 plus freight and fitting. Price looks good for the Federal. Has anyone tried them. Last 2 sets of Maxxis got around 70,000km and 40.000kms. Thanks.

mate have been looking for my 2009 v6TDI and have come down to the Michelin's as being the best available in Australia - the Bridgestone HL Alenza have a good rep overseas but they cannot be purchased in auz. the best price for Mich's about $350 fitted. Have heard good things about the maxxis - why are you not going them again?

You have been given good advice. You should replace all four tyres with the same replacemet tyres at the same time, ie. don't mix tyre brands or tyres of different tread wear between axles.
There are some very good discussions (treads) on this subject and I suggest you do a search and spend some time on going through all the information.

Another thing, asking if Toyo or Falker or any other brand is better than another is far too broad to trawl informative opinions from users, you really need to specify actual brand, tyre size and the specific tyre within that brand to obtain good feedback from owners.

I for example, am very happy with the Toyo Proxes STII in the 255/55-18 size that I currently run, so much so that I am about to fit my second set.

These tyres are directional with a "V" rating and wear reasonably well as I have done 50K. kms on them and until recently they been very quiet.
The Proxes have been a great highway tyre, quiet and predictable and have never never caused a heart skip and are especially good in the wet.

In my opinion the Proxes are strictly a tyre for the hardtop, not an A/T and do OK in the dry dirt but pretty hopeless in the mud, to cater for my non hardtop travels I have a set of 245/65-17 Cooper AT3.
I can't offer an opinion on the AT3's as I haven't done enough miles on them to form one as yet.
Horses for courses.
Hope this helps.

hi guys i have an '04 and have fitted toyo 235/65 R17 tyres. i had cooper tyres before and the toyo's are very quiet and smooth compared to the coopers. i am very pleased with the toyo,s and can recommend them highly
regards, glenstarrover
ps, i strongle recommend replacing all 4 tyres to avoid abs/traction control issues due to different rolling radius
