Hey all,

Stepping up the process of picking up a used T2 Treg in the coming months. Have been reading these forums for several months now looking at issues and hints/tips and peoples experiences (and it still hasnt scared me off...yet)

I'm looking at a few examples in the coming weeks - and was looking for recommendations of Dealers/workshops/technicians who would perform a pre-purchase inspection - and knows about all the nuances of these vehicles. Wouldnt certainly appreciate any suggestions or recommendations.

Have had 3 VW's in the past, but this is the first Touareg (but not our first 4wd - coming from an 80 series previously)
Looking forward to hopefully being a Treg owner in the not too distant future.

Cheers & thanks in advance

Hello Owen.

If you are committed to owning a treg, (or any VW) you should invest in a Ross-Tech VCDS system.
The VCDS is a windows based diagnostic software / hardware package that will allow you to interrogate the ECU and other control modules in the car for faults.
You can also use it to modify certain aspects of the cars behaviour, like disabling seatbelt chimes and other region specific behaviours.
They are not cheap at around $500 AUD but as many on this forum will testify, it will likely start saving you money with one one or two saved trips to the stealer.

Ross-Tech: VCDS

Thanks for the headsup on these guys Unky. Russell was able to squeeze an inspection in at short notice, and was very thorough.
For anyone wanting to use them just be sure to phone rather than email as sometimes email responses can lag a bit.
