To preface, its been below zero here in the chicago area for the last 40 hours or so. Yesterday and today when I went to start the car I got an error on the MFD (see images). Shutting off the car and restarting it immediately seemed to make the issue go away.

Its an '05 V8 that just hit 40k miles that I bought a few weeks ago.

Im going to swing by my mechanic tonight and have him VAG it but I wanted to see if I could get some answers before that.

Thoughts?

Sound like you may have a battery thats weak. I was getting the same sort of messages on my 05. But only when it was cold outside. Had the battery replaced and they went away. Try that first

Yeah, I was just doing some more research and came to that possible conclusion too. The other thing I'm worried about though is that if I try to manually engage the locking diff I get the same error symbol as the first image. I dont know if that is battery related as well though.

What is the your volt meter reading when the car is running? It should be a steady 14 volts. If it is lower then that then seek a new battery.

looks like silly battery problems...I've been getting the same thing past couple of days that we've had some extreme cold weather

The volt meter is showing a steady charge of 14v but thats more a measure of the alternator output than the actual battery charge when the car is running.

I checked the codes this evening and Im showing three faults in two modules..

Address 09: Cent. Elect.

00907 - Intervention load Management

and

Address 22: AWD

00532 - Supply Voltage B+ - Lower Limit Exceeded - Intermittent
02042 - Control Circuit for motor in transfer fase - Open Circuit - Intermittent

Id imagine 00532 could be related to a low battery issues but 02042 sounds more like issues with the AWD computer. Im not sure what 00907 is though...

Mine was voltage fine too when running.I think if you address the low voltage(battery) issues first you will find that the other error codes will dissapear. This touareg is very sensitive to low voltage. I would get all sorts of workshop fault error messages and symbols. the cold is a killer to a marginal battery

"Intervention Load Management" is basically reporting a low voltage condition. I could easily see that low voltage condition causing 00532, and probably the 02042 as well.

To get an easy read on your battery's voltage, let the Touareg sit overnight. Simply turn the key to the "on" position, but do not start the engine, and watch the voltmeter. Where it settles in is a pretty good indication of battery charge level.

Was having the same Diff. error reading. We have had some low temp. in the teens I have a V8 2004 with a 5 year old battery that was a little slow turning the engin . Had the battery replaced Sunday at Pep Boys for 99.95 and 14.95 to install it altough the mechanic said he would not install another one for that. But thanks for the thread it saved me a trip to the Dealer and some $. Thanks Stephen
