Hi Guys, d/l the july update, no matter how I try, doesn`t get past updating software 0%. I`ve tried NTFS, exfat, sd card, usb stick. There is always the system information folder on any stick, plus meta and data. deleted sys info on stick, no diff. When I insert sd card says searching for update, then says, found update, then switches to updating software 0%, and stays there. Have d/l several times, unzipped several different ways. no joy
It seems to me it knows there is an update but can`t find the executable file to actually start the process.
the update before worked. but not this one.
Did a factory reset of navigation software, no difference.
I am technical, and have been in electronics all my working life, but its got me flummoxed??. I downloaded P0573_MIB2P_RW . I assume that is the correct one.
Any suggestions appreciated. TIA

I had the same experience. Is at the dealer today to have updated navigation!

Can you screenshot the explorer view of the SD card contents, from root to what the folders have.

Hi Guys, picked up my treg from the dealer today, for them to do the map update. He said that he tried my sd card with no sucess. So he d/l and then unzipped straight to the sd card, and it worked. the only difference i had to him, is I used a micro sd, into a sd adaptor. He used a proper sd card. I really can`t see how that would make a difference??. He did say that he connected a battery charger, and had the hazard lights on as well, to stop the system from shutting down??.
He said it, straight away come up with the new update file name, but didn`t start actually updating for 10 minutes.
He nor I could get traffic info to work. Any suggestions Singh??. The book does say you have to have car net??. Which I know nothing about.

Thanks for that, Singh. Went back to the vw dealer, asked him to change the coding for me. He said, vw does not allow dealers to change coding??. Went to my old service guy. He tried to get in with 2 different $5000+ scan tools. could read everything, but couldn`t change anything!!!. Happy to buy an OBDeleven but not confident that will allow me to either.
any thoughts?.
As an aside, took my wifes 2015 golf to the vw dealer for service and map updates. He downloaded latest map, transferred to sd card. wouldn`t work. copied map info from another same golf with latest map onto same sd card. worked.
go figure. It would be good to understand why it is so touchy.
Can`t find in treg folder Meta and data, which file actually starts the updating process. Can`t see any executable file anywhere within.

This isn't something the dealership will do for you and most other workshops know much of it either.
Best to diy or ask a fellow CT member in your area to do it for you. Happy to help if in Sydney Melbourne or Brisbane

Hi Singh
bought an obdeleven, followed your directions for turning on TMC. accepted me writing in 1024. Pressing the green tick to confirm. it whirred away, then came back with, something went wrong. This ties in with my local mechanic trying previously with 2 different scan tools, and not being allowed to change anything. Any suggestions?. I vaguely remember reading in the forum somewhere that VW will no longer allow making changes. Anything I can do?
I wonder would this also be the reason why my car( and others) doesn`t easily accept map updates

Did ypu try that with the Bonnet up. Some functionality can only be changed with the bonnet up. Also it can take a little while to sync TCM signal when you've completed the change.

hooray, it worked with the bonnet up. Thank you brickwalls. still don`t know if TMC is working. cross fingers next time i take it out

Hooray Hooray, TMC works after changing to 1024, with the bonnet up. Just a thought, would the same apply to doing map updates?? (bonnet up).
Another discovery, perhaps obvious, if you start your car with the spare key, TMC and all other changes disappear.

Hi all,
went to update map with the latest, wouldn`t work. Tried Vne`s suggestion to go in engineering ( service ) mode. saw update software icon, pressed it. and the screen locked up. Can`t go back, move anything on the screen. locked the car, left it for 2 hours. booted up into sevice mode with a locked (touch) screen. Either I have stuffed the nav software, or (hopefully) there is a magic button to press somewhere. any help appreciated

By the way, that engineering mode won't do the maps. Only the firmware.

Why is it so touchy, makes no sense. Has anybody tried several times and suddenly its started,with the same card, which would suggest a touchy reader and or software. Or has it never started with a particular card, which would suggest a faulty card. I tried today with a micro sd card in an adaptor and then the same software in a usb stick (usb1) no joy with either????.

You may well be right, but, my first map upgrade, several months ago was in usb1(under armrest) eventually worked. 2nd upgrade , refused to work in usb1, tried in sd card, would`nt work for me. went to dealer, he d/l his own copy to sd card, worked. I am trying recent upgrade. says no data found in sd and usb.
If it was hardware( I have the early unit) then usb1 would be intermittent. I have a usb stick full of music, which works perfectly in usb1. So the firmware in the the early unit can read what sort of software is in usb1( mp3), why can`t it read the map software??
