Its a belt.....

 

I have used ECS timing belt kits for other cars. They are a great parts provider who sells quality products. The majority of what they sell are 100% OEM at prices more competative than dealers. i give a big :clapclap: for ECS. I say judging by their reputation and many previous dealings with them... Go for it!

 

Is it belt on the 2008 3.0lt TDI as well?

 

I don't believe so, I believe it is all gear driven. So you would have chains, not belts.

 

Belt on 04-06 V8.

07+ V8 have chains...you never replace the chain, its meant to last the lifetime of the engine.

V10s have gear driven valetrains (no chains or belts, its a physical gear cog connection) so nothing to replace.

All VR6s are chains (3.2 and 3.6) and nothing to replace as the chain is designed to last the lifetime of the engine

I don't know abou the V6 TDI.

 

you might want to check blaufurnugen as they also sell a complete kit for $500 and will rent you all the tools for $35 with a deposit. If you are doing this yourself i think its the best way to go as the tools are the limiting factor...

 

One thing to check is that the replacement water pump has a metal impeller instead of the plastic one and that it a new unit and not rebuilt.

 

V6 TDi is chain driven.

What is the engine code for the NA V6TDI? CASA...?
