Hi all,

Some advice needed.

Enough of you have tuned your TDI and have been running a tune for enough time (maybe) to provide some input. Are there any cooked gearboxes out there?

If a tune gives say 20% more power and torque - what is the effect on the gearbox? I would expect that VW would not specify a stonger gearbox than is required for a particular model. For example: I notice that the V8 TDI has different gearbox model codes than for the V6 for example - I am not sure WHAT is different though. Clutch packs different?

the aisin hi tq 8spd in the v6 tdi is more then capable and strong to handle anything you want to throw at it. Ive never heard anyone have an issue with clutch packs or lack of power holding. Im more modded then 99% of people will go and it has no issues what so ever

Any how true to say that Aisin 08 from 3.0 TDI and 4.2 TDI are not the same package. More clutch disks in the 4.2 TDI, for handling up to 1000 Nm torque (see attached file)
As 4.2 engine delivers 800 Nm torque we can easily figure that VAG apply a +20 margin coefficient when specifying the gearbox allowable torque.
If they apply the same rule with 3.0 TDI gearbox then you should be OK with your tunning.

The stock Trans should be fine with most tunes without any problems.
The Aisin trans is very stout and even the ones used with the V10's have only had issues when paired with much larger turbos.

With that being said Malone and I are working together on a performance transmission tune that will compliment a tuned Engine.

Thank you i will be passionately waiting, i have been thinking about adjusting the solenoids to get a firmer shift but i will hold off, i have a Malone on my V10 already the trans tune will definitely complement this.

IMHO a Malone MPG tune, plus my trans tune should net you better MPG than the pre mapping :wink2:

Does anyone have a tune for the ECM for a vr6 FSI and how to flash it? I would love to get rid of the pedal lag (trans reset only helps a little)/the speed limiter/and also gain a few HP. I know the 8 speed aisin tranny can handle a few more Hp/torque specs. Any help would be appreciated.
