I still have the one Alex G made for my previous MY05 V8. It was designed to fit the hayman reece tow bar as it came out slightly more. It appears it will fit the OEM bar also but will need to drill a second hole....... not sure how you would go with the 7P you could try and measure up

Big bad mud tyres

On the quest for more mud and wanting to get the most out of the bus I have suited up a set of manhattans with some Summit Mudhog 275/65x18. I have built some spacers for the rear and am half way threw finishing the fronts. The rear spacers I made. Fronts half done.

but...surely that could be a relatively easy correction?

I had the stud pattern 're-aligned' on our spare wheel carrier on the caravan recently, to accommodate the 7P spare wheel, which as you point out, is a different pattern to the 7L

 

I purchased a tyre trek Home - Tyre Trek second hand for my 7L. I had to fit a wheel spacer and redrill it to fit. Perhaps they could build one to suit your Touareg. I also carry a Jerry can full of water. I can also lift the rear glass without swinging it out of the way. Very happy with it.

I have the same one on my car, I had to weld in a 50mm extension to fit the jerry can mount though on my r5 with 17” rims. I can also open the glass hatch without opening the tyre carrier. I find it affects the departure angle with the standard VW OEM towbar though.
