Seems like the usual suspects whom I ping things off are galavanting for Memorial Day thus I'd like to ask for some advice.

I've connected and run the *&^^%^$%$%^&&* wire through from the rear driver's side fog to the convenience module. Now here's the rub:

1) Euro light switch shows fog lamp activated

2) No check lights and the amber fog light shows on the dash

3) VAG-COM (weeks ago but will check again to make sure when my PC finally boots) to enable rear fog has been done

4) Convience module has three connector blocks and looking at it connected:

From left to right:

12 pin
23 pin
12 pin

Looking at terminal 10 which would be the first pin in the middle row of the 23 pin connector: I get nada

trying other available sockets I get either light on all the time or nothing.
Could anyone with an 08 who has done this shed some light (where are you PLO321????). Any help appreciated

More details:

The three connector blocks are looking at them connected from left to right:

12 pin BLACK

23 pin BLACK

12 pin BROWN

Since pin 10 on the center 23 block connector is occupied that can't be it. Reading again the write up it states closest to back which would make it the 12 pin BROWN connector and pin 10 is free. Alas I get nothing, meaning rear fog doesn't light. Tried the other pin 10 on leftmost 12 pin connector BLACK also nothing.

Any help ... ?

Problem solved. Since I wasn't sure what port 10 was needed i simply shoved a wire in to test and it seems (thanx Sean) that it wasn't in deep enough. So who said size don't matter?

I'll do a write for the T2s shortly.

I can't find the original write up of the person who did the DIY for the rear fogs but it was for a T1 not T2. So for those who have a T2 here is what you have to watch out for:

1) Not mentioned, is the fact that you need to loosen the seat back retaining bolt in order to get part of the cover off to get to the convenience unit

2) Don't know about the T1s but the T2s have all connectors to the CM (convenience module) on the front not the back.

3) For the T2s, there are three block connectors for module J393 (CM). From left to right: 12 pin BLACK, 23 pin BLACK and 12 pin BROWN

4) For the T2s, IT'S THE LEFTMOST 12 PIN BLACK BLOCK CONNECTOR that's got the pin number 10 you need. Pin 10 is the TOP ROW SECOND FROM LEFT

5) I spent hours testing as there were two connectors that had pin 10 since the original write up stated rightmost.

6) To save some time when you run the wire from the light up the tailgate and under the piston (careful here) you'll spend a lot of time trying to feed it through the grommet. So when the grommet popped out of the hole the wire became visible and much easier. I just didn't bother putting the grommet back in.

7) Most important: Since I wasn't sure which block connector had the right number 10 pin, I just used some wire to test. As I found out thanx to Sean, the connector is pretty deep and chances are that simply shoving the wire in won't work. Thus once you ID the leftmost black 12 pin block connector, top row second from left, use the special wire you bought from VW and then test with that prior to reassembly. MAKE SURE you insert the connector to the special wire in the right direction. Check the other wires from the front to see its orientation!

8 ) Goes without saying that a Euro switch is needed and you need to VAG-COM the enable rear fogs. Without that nothing will work.

Shouldn't take more than 1.5 hours taking it real easy. Despite it all the CFO said it will never get that cold that I get to put a Shaker on her T... can't feel the love here... 8-(

Dang! I really miss that feature. I am still not convinced that haven't I missed something with the coding. What code did you use? I think that 08's have short coding for that module.

Do you mean that there will be no power to the "pin" unless you vag. com the enable rear fogs ? No wonder I have not got power to the pin with the euro switch clicked to rear fog position Vern
2006 models do not need a VAG coding change to accomplish this. Just install the proper wiring and bulb.
