? RE biodiesel

The last biodiesel thread I see is from a few years ago. In Pgh, biodiesel is 70 cents < regular diesel. I have a 2014 Touareg TDI. Previously I had a 2010 JSW & I fed it biodiesel periodically without any problem. The station in Pittsburgh, Getgo, seems to have a high quality fuel, 100% biodiesel. I'll probably not use it, at least not regularly, given concerns about the warranty. The question is, is this a real concern, or is it more the manufacturer concerned that folks will use recycled french fry oil.

Hey Psyphy....read the first 20 or so posts of the " Diesel Fuel Additive for 2013 Touareg V6 TDI" thread in the TDI section for some clarity. Biodiesel and it's benefits are discussed a lot there. In short, 2% biodiesel is sufficient. And there are a lot more past discussions on here about the use of biodiesel. Use the search function for biodiesel.

On the same topic, I'm looking to start mixing a bit of BD in with the ULSD here in PA. About 15 minutes from my house, there's a station that sells B10 and right down the street, a Shell with ULSD. No idea how this mixing ratio works. :)

What proportion of the B10 should I be mixing in when filling to get around a B2 mixture? I figure I can stop, fill up with however much B10 I'll need, then go down the street and top off at the Shell.

Thanks for any help!

Just run the B10. VWoA is sending out notices that it is ok since some states are only doing B10. I have run full tanks of B5 in mine and it actually gets better mileage on Bio I have noticed.

If B5 is 5% biodiesel to 95% Dino diesel, and B10 is 10% biodiesel.....and B2 is2% biodiesel.... Just do the math.

Ok, I think I got it.

Say, for math's sake, we have a 25 gallon tank to make things even.

5 gallons of B10 would give me 1/2 gallon of BD + 4.5 gallons of Dino.

Adding on another 20 gallons of Dino diesel on top of that would then give me a 1/50 mixture of BD and Dino, rounding to about a B2.

Is my math correct here?

Just straight diesel which of course is B2 given the PA mandate. It's off of Rt 10 where the school buses are. You need to apply for an account and can do that there in their office. They also carry off-road diesel which I use in my Kabota.

I worked in Lionville for many years but I took back roads there. :)
